The map tiles are out of alignment, as you noted from your start point the tiles will shift a little as you progress. I laid a 4 mile straight stretch that ended up with the tracks about 20 meters. I'm sure there's a method of fine tuning from tile to tile, but I just look between the points and work with what I had.

I forgot to ask, have you tried RWDecals?

I've used both, the last I recall rwdecal requires you to use an older version of Google. Watch the videos, and play with it. I even tried laying decals and trying to line them. Ultimately it's all trail and error, have fun!

the method I use is to look far enough ahead. then kind of "average out" the straight sections if it is more than .3 of a mile. as mentioned before, the Google overlay is crooked at best. good luck!
