    DTG Southampton - Bournemouth

Don't blink or you could run through the buffers at either end, before you know it.

Reminds me of the war................... Is your journey really necessary ?

Bournemouth to Weymouth would have been better, set in the 70's or early 80's with 33's and TC units on push pull, or retro it to the late 60's/early 70's and include the Swanage branch.

The Freightliner yards at Southampton might be of passing interest but bearing in mind the traffic flow is eastbound other than the occasional diversion via Romsey you're only going to be driving for a few miles.

This really is a route from "nowhere to nowhere", with apologies if that sounds like one of the old criticisms from certain parties at UKTS in MSTS days.

Completely agree with all your points Vern. The freeware steam era version is much much better.

Speaking of MSTS, we need your SMJR route in Railworks or god forbid Trainz.

I used to love that old route.

Yes, one might describe this add-on as very ''underwhelming'' unfortunately, however, having travelled this route numerous times in real life back in the 1980s, it wasn't very exciting anyway. Freightliner had a small outpost at Poole (Hamworthy Goods Yard & Docks) and of course the domestic terminal at Millbrook and the Deep Sea Maritime place, as well as the export car terminal and various other areas. Elling Wharf at Totton, Marchwood Military Port and the oil terminal at Fawley could also have been added, in fact, DTG could have done a huge route just covering the sprawling Southampton area on its own if they'd have wanted to as it was a hive of industry, and of course we already have the iconic Class 07 shunter from SHG which would be very home from home. Another missed opportunity, and my wallet will stay firmly shut, why are we surprised......

        Cheerz. Steve.

I see the discussion about this route at UKTS has got too close for comfort to the DTG worshipful mods/acolytes and the thread got locked!

As someone posted over there it could be one for a 60% off sale and if, as indicated at the hallowed chapel of train simming, someone is creating a 4REP and 4TC then at least we would have some decent traction to run on it.

Which is why this forum is worth a million ukts forum.

Completely and utterly controlled by DTG over there, with a conflict of interest.

BR stock or not, it is still far too short. Obviously now the TS franchise has become a cash cow, to support their other less than stellar products. Fishing simulation anyone.....................hahahahahahahaha.

Sitting on a dank river or canal bank for hours, dangling a worm on a hook to catch an 8oz pike (then throw it back) has never really appealed Mike, in either real or virtual format.

If I want fish, we buy it at Sainsburys or served up on a plate with some chips at Wetherspoons (plus a couple of pints of whatever isn't Doom Bar or Greene King!).

Like wise Vern, i get bored enough with the train games and i love railways.

My son in law really enjoys real world fishing. But when i mentioned to him about a fishing sim.

He gave me a look as if i was a little green man with 3 heads.

And we are talking about a boy, who thinks Farm Simulator. Is the greatest game ever invented. LOL

                Mike.

Why don't they do an interesting route like the Old Waverley Line, plenty of info about to create it i would think.

The problem is Charlie, DTG seem to have lost their imagination and, who knows, possibly key route builders too - certainly nothing on the scale of the excellent WCML North and South built by Keith Ross has been seen for some time. Almost as if their main TS is following the TSW paradigm - a 30 to 40 mile linear route which can be made (relatively) quickly and they know the core fanbois and console XP kiddies will buy for £25 on release giving them a cash injection. Nothing against DTG making money but when you compare what £25 seems to buy now in DLC vs. a few years ago, it's not the same.

The route is pretty, about all I can say. There is a high pitched beep in the 444 & 450 that I can't turn off.

Beep on the 444's will be dead man's handle buddy (driver vigilance).

Press the E key to reset it, i think it is. You have to reset it at intervals, as in the real world. It needs to know the driver is still breathing

You have me at a disadvantage sir, pray enlighten me . Mind that is nothing new these days. LOL

If you want to turn the Driver Vigilence Device of, Ctrl-D will do it - otherwise, as already said, press E.
