    My Updated Site

For those that have not given up on TS2021 just yet, I've updated my web site for my new format in TS2021. I'm going to start making content having anything to do with anthracite railroading. I'm stating by making a Lehigh Valley route. I'm willing share my site with anybody willing to make another anthracite railroad route...if there are any other content creators out there that are up to the challenge. I will give you a page on my web site and host your files. The only rule is that it needs to be a route prior to 1960 and it has to be a anthracite railroad in any of the anthracite fields.

    Hi Scott,

Sounds neat - one of my favorite regions/periods - as someone who's made (3) steam locomotives for the LHR and I'm now doing a complete overhaul on the LHR route while extending it to Hudson Yard - albeit - for ORTS - I'd be interested in seeing progress shots as you do the work. Best of luck.

    Regards,
    Scott

I'm really surprised more people are not model the area. There are so few places where so many railroads were located.

Keep an eye on my site, the updates will be frequent while it's only track building going on.

I made my first update on the Coxton Yard. Got some track building in. I'm looking for any Lehigh Valley freeware out there. I did manage to find and pretty schnazzy S2 and I found a rolling stock pack. Anybody know of anything else out there? Preferably something that I don't have to buy a non wanted route with just to have a repaint function right?

          unable to connect

I tried to get on there and am getting a 404 error. Is something amiss or is the problem on my end?

No, sorry about that. There just doesn't seen to be an interests in what I'm doing. I unpublished the site for the time being to give some thought about continuing this hobby of 3d modeling and sim railroading.

There seems to be very few of us. As time rolls on, there's even less of us. I wish I got into the hobby sooner...both model railroading and 3d modeling.

To be completely honest I'm content creator without a home train sim. I'm not really happy with the Trainz community at the moment and the Railworks community seems to be nonexistent for what I'm interested in. I have far more content made in Trainz then I do Railworks, however Railworks game renders seem to appeal to me more, especially with the night lighting and the quick change of seasons as well as the built in route textures. Trainz was easier to create models for until TRS2019. That is why many Trainz users are sticking with building models for the older versions...including me. Railworks on the other hand is not as easy and there's not a lot of up to date information is out there about model creation. I suppose it is like that due to all the payware that is out there. Which seems to be a problem into it's self. I found that If I commit to making something in Railworks, a user potential user that would want to enjoy my work will have to possibly buy more routes and locomotives. That just doesn't sit well with me. Whether it be Trainz or Railworks, I don't want it to be about money, I want it to be about the hobby and the history of railroading. This has landed me into a dead zone, not knowing what to do next.

Might it be time to ditch the DLC and come over to OpenRails? Money has never been a concern with the ORTS community.

There's no shortage of free content, a fairly stable number of creators, it's crowdsourced development, and you can use tools like Blender which have huge bases of support outside the trainsim family....
If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!

I'll look into that. Where do I start?

That's not entirely true. Minerman146 has created a masterpiece without using any payware and just a lot of kitbashing and creativity. His route is available on the Steam workshop and it's a beauty.

If I recall He was working on a Erie Lackawanna Route. I'll need to look into that.

I'm not saying that it can't be done. If you make everything from scratch you can do that, and I think that would actually be kind of fun to do. However by the time you (or someone with my knowledge of Railworks content creation) has finished the project, we would be looking at TS2045. I recall struggling for 3 weeks just to figure out how to make a simple loft! The solution was so simple that if someone was there to tell me the issue from the beginning, I could of saved weeks of frustration. Now think what that would be like to figure out all that knowledge that is needed to make a complete route with all it's rolling stock...that is what stops me from going down that path.

The same thing also happen again at RWA with Mr. Campbell and his telegraph poles. Where I struggle for over a week tying to understand his process in Blender which wasn't really explained very well for us beginners. His explanation made it far more difficult then it needed to be and when I finally did figure how simple it was I, got mad and lashed out which led to me being banning over there...I'm sure you remember that. I seems to be a rolling theme with a lot of the older content creation tutorials, very difficult to understand...or maybe it's just me. I seem to respond better to video tutorials. Besides Tony Nichols, nobody that I know of is making Railworks content creation videos.

My point being for all this is that I do like how Railworks looks and I like the platform that the game is based on, however I do have reservations about payware and the lack of updated information about content creation.
