    3DTrains Tehachapi - What Now?

    Hi all,

With DTG's recent announcement of producing their own Tehachapi route, something I'm not entirely surprised at given my lack of participation of late, I've been thinking of what to do with the 3DTrains version. Although I believe DTG's offering will be well received, I don't wish to abandon the project outright, and while it's been long since I've updated the route, I thought perhaps a different approach was needed and I would like to get feedback and suggestions on how to best handle this situation; especially to not leave those who've supported 3DTrains over the years in limbo with a useless product on their system.

One idea I have is to backdate the route, maybe as far as 60 years or so. Except for surrounding buildings, which are relatively easy to alter, little has changed in track arrangements between the 1950s and mid-1990s, and depending on the era chosen (my preference would be with 1st-generation diesels for obvious reasons), minor expansions would be necessary to bring the yards at Mojave and Bakersfield up to par, remove notches from tunnel portals, and change out the scenery to suit. Any new alteration would be stand alone from what I have so far, and the modern version will continue until all bridges, signals and modern scenery are complete.

    Thoughts?
    Cheers!

Firstly, thank you for all your great offerings over the years and secondly, thank you for not wishing to abandon your Tehachapi customers/supporters. I would greatly appreciate a backdated route to the 1950s - early 60s era as I believe this time period is very under represented in the TS offerings.
    Best Wishes,

G'day, Marc. I still have your "beta" on my system.

What a great idea to set it back in the 1960's! Two thumbs-up from me on that possibility.

        Hi Marc,
Nice to see you as you know there has been a lot of complaining on nothing happening with this Route and other items over on the 3DTrans Site. This should make them happy. I personally have no complaints as it isn't easy to keep things updated.
I think the Late 50's Early 60 would be very interesting as Kevin A and I did a lot of this Era in MSTS years ago.
Thanks for all that you have done and will do in the future.

Glad you are continuing with your version of the route. I'll be bias. Your route will be superior to DTG's in every way possible and I for one can wait for it be finished. Will you still do updates or just go at it till it's complete? And I think a backdated version would be great maybe transition when plenty of steam was still around and diesels were just hitting the scene. 1960s-1970s would be great to.

While I haven't bought any of your TS20XX content (but I have bought some of your MSTS trainsets), I'd love to see a backdated version of Tehachapi!

Thanks guys. I'll continue with the current version, as well as add for a separate install of a back dated one.
              Cheers!

Well, you've got a customer for both down here, Marc.

Same here, i don't do early release. But i will certainly buy the two finished versions.

As i did Marc's MSTS payware.

Thanks for your message Marc, I'm sure those of us who have already obtained your route would like you to complete it, and as I already own your Santa Fe F7-F units they would go very well on any fallen flag backdated layout if you chose to do one, that would be absolutely wicked, look forward to whatever you create for the community, thanks buddy.

Your work at Tehachapi Pass Marc is very good, and I will support it, about updating the route, some areas after the loop are now double track towards Marcel, and I don't know if you are planning to do that later, but looking forward for what is coming

A chance to run 1st generation power would be a great change up for those of us who are not spring chickens. I hope you move this one forward Marc!!!!
