.....It’s a shame there don’t appear to be any ready supplied scenarios that run the length of the line ....
There are a couple of two-piece scenarios in Career mode. The one I am doing at the moment goes from Dunsmuir to about halfway and the second part goes to Klamath.

Was just having a look at the Amtrak schedules, unfortunately both run during the hours of darkness and not every day:
Southbound
Klamath Falls Dep: 2200 (MWSO)
Dunsmuir Arr: 0035 (TWSuO)
Northbound
Dunsmuir Dep: 0456 (TThSO)
Klamath Falls Arr: 0817 (TThSO)

That is from the winter 2020 timetable.
The "not every day" business was/is a short-term thing during Covid. Other than the past couple years, it's been a daily train both ways for many years.
In the long days of summer, the northbound Amtrak (eastbound in SP terms) typically meets sunrise not long after departing Dunsmuir, and so most of the trip is in daylight. Winter time, sunrise is probably not until the train is up around Dorris.
I have both, but i am not recommending them. As i obviously over sold Shasta to you, by your reaction Vern.
They are on my wishlist Mike, maybe for Easter. And Shasta not oversold, the route is great but I may have a play around to get that Amtrak run set up.

Do you mean Granger Heartland Kansas, Vern? It's not a bad route at all, double track throughout and my favourite for playing all the KCS rolling stock and locos on that I've collected over the last 15 years, it's a nicely designed route, mainly rural, reasonably flat and straight and you can get some speed up on your freight trains, which is most enjoyable. DTG haven't got a lot of skyscrapers to show off at the Kansas City end, just a token gesture, as is often the case, but, I like it.
Feather River is OK also, there is an updated/extended version of it somewhere, on a webpage that I cannot remember at the moment, I'll have a look, it's a huge route very twisty and single track again, but, you might enjoy it, it didn't have the same appeal to me.
Cheerz. Steve.

Reason: re-edit

Ok Vern, my enthusiasm does run away with me. Then a week later, it just dips. Nature of the beast i'm afraid.
Amtrak would be good, who gets priority in the US. Is it freight or passenger, do you know ?
One thing I can report is wherever it sets you down on startup has one steep grade. As soon as you release the brakes you better ram it in to forward and step on the gas! Otherwise you'll be rolling downhill at a pretty good clip out of control. Also should point out I checked it out while in edit mode. Wanted to see just how bad things were. It's not a bad route. I don't like the track, but most DTG routes have track I don't care for. At some point I'll go in there and start replacing the track with Scalerail.
I belatedly experienced this last night. Bored with running uphill with an overpowered Amtrak consist I set up a quick drive with the GTEL and consist at Dunsmuir. While waiting for the turbine to spool up released the brakes and promptly started rolling backwards. Straight brake and air brake applied at which point I blew the PCS that unfortunately does not appear to have any documented method of recovering.
the 3DTrain Site is nonfunctional. So how can buy what you need? You can't.
Something to keep in mind when a particular route has been reworked. If it calls for ScaleRail and you don't have it, it's not happening! People should keep that in mind that rework a route and then offer it up as a improvement. I suppose we can only cross our fingers and hope the issues with 3DTrains gets straightened out. Glad I got ScaleRail years ago when I first got started with Railworks. That track is so much better than the DTG crap.
