I know i will not be buying Train Sim W**k 3. Not after the failures of v1 and v2.

I would prefer to spend my money on R8, stuff Dash9's etc. But even that is not a done deal either.

DTG will never sustain TSW, by relying on console sales. The audience is to fickle and has a short attention span.

Where as pc users of same, view simulators as more of a long term hobby.

Us PC veterans know it is a long term hobby, Mike, over 20 years ago since I obtained Trainz Simulator, and even further back for MSTS.We only need to look at Phil's excellent route that he's showed us a video of below in TRS19, he's still plodding away making content for the community to play with, bless him, he deserves a medal for his everlasting contributions, but, it's because of folks like Phil and many others in Train Simulator, and I'm sure in Run 8 and other railway games as well, that keep customers/gamers interested in the hobby, and purchasing content to keep developers keen to carry on a steady supply of goodies to help us being entertained.

      Cheerz. Steve.

        Thanks:

Meanwhile, back in the days of narrow gauge steam, Chuck & Joe plod along on old #57 at the head of a short consist on the Waltz & Voltz Railroad (full screen and 1080p -- or even better at 1440p):

My view is, that without any of the developers, whether it’s N3V, DTG or Run8/3DTS we would still be stuck with the text based graphics of Simudrive, coaxing Train Driver 3 to run on the Amiga Emulator, or Cab View Driver with its blocky Railscene video clip.

          I salute them all.

Spot on Steve and it is usually the third party guys, who release the best stuff.

Never played any of those Vern. First train game was MSTS bought from the US in May 2001, before it was released in the UK. Then Trainz in November 2001. So i only know the games with a 3D world. MSTS for me was the pioneer, just a shame Microcrap didn't go on and develop the next iteration of the game. I believe we would have had far better to enjoy now, than anything by DTG and N$V,

Developers like myself fill the gaps that are missing. We needed an AEI system for Run8 for example I built it. A few years back I build a car forwarding system for Run8 then once V2 filled most of what I wanted it became obsolete or redundant. Simple in comparison to a full simulator but here is the point. We have people right now developing because they feel something is missing (as there is always room for improvement). Since I was playing with flow charts on RTS at my grandmothers house on a Sunday over 20 years ago I assure you had no simulator exist I would've pushed the envelope harder. So would many others much more talented than myself.

              Thanks

In the end I did get TSW3 (Deluxe)only because It was half price via cdkeys and I did not have spirit of steam route so thought why not, to be honest though other than some visual improvements(that could be done better) it’s still the same old game. I’m worried that they are putting a lot of effort to make it look better but the simulation/sound side will not be improved/updated. Sitting in the cab of a train at sunrise on SEHS with the sun behind should not mean the cab is bright, even putting the blind down and the cab remained bright. Another time there was just a few light clouds in the sky and it was pouring with rain. Just a few visual improvements will not make me rush back to keep playing.

From what’s being said over at the DTG forum, seems like wiser heads have prevailed and the save game is coming back while they work on it.

One thing I would say is that legacy routes do seem a bit brighter, particularly at night in TSW3. Weaned myself off Run 8 last night and took a run on one of the German commuter routes. Night time, but the stations seemed better lit and there was more ambient light emanating from the built up areas.

Still won't buy it. I watched a 3 hr YT video yesterday by an engineer (driver) from the US. Using the Cajon Pass route, he was less than complimentary about the realism. Only saying the sounds and graphics were good.

Rather than start a new thread, just in case anyone hasn't seen it a new German route coming out next week- Bremen to Oldenburg. A grand total of 44km or slightly under 30 miles. It does come with a new German loco - the veteran Class 110 and some new coaching stock but... it appears the new pricing policy is here to stay - they want £30 for it and not even a preorder discount. Oh and someone actually prepared to sit through the marketing blurb, sorry stream, has already picked up it will be releasing with known bugs to the PZB (safety) system.

Well I think I can calmly and politely say, that one will be waiting for a sale...

Train Sim World - 1 Mile = 1 pound of flesh. Don't worry all the fanboys will pick this up and they'll do more than break even without the sensible ones saying no thanks.

                        Thanks

You are still parting with your pieces of eight, on TSW3 dlc then Vern.

You do know that perseverance, eventual gets perceived as madness, buddy

                            Not that readily Mike.

The German route is tempting as the 110 by all accounts has a proper tap changer (like our early AC locos) but I'm still not convinced it will be bug free or worth £30. Will need some glowing testimonials and not from the fanbois to persuade me otherwise.

Hehehehehehe, only joking with you Vern. Not sure what a 110 is sorry, but there are some older German loco's that i actually like.

You know deep down it's not going to be bug free, buddy. For me personally £30 for a 30 mile long route, is extortion.

                              Mike.

You're right, Mike. If I used that word over there would probably get banned or get flamed by the fanbois eager to hand their money over. Buying two short DLC at that price works out more than paying full price for Zusi 3 or Trainz 22, which I'm unlikely to do either but at least you get a whole load of content for your money.
