    Peak Forest Rail DLC

Finally got my hands on this steam traction route today. Staggered launch and all that. I love the atmospheric setting, the landscape, and the locomotives. The DLC is set in the early '60's (before Beecham's Mayhem) and certainly evokes that post war era well (really reminds me of my dad's Hornsby and Meccano catalogs from the mid-late 50's).

I've only managed a couple of the journey scenarios, but they were fun and immersive. The locomotives seem to be operating much better after the recent SoS patch. Some issue with excessive loudness from a couple of valves but I'm hoping those get patched. All-in-all a good investment. Of course, YMMV.

    Kind regards,
    Dave

Not gonna lie... the graphics look pretty good on this albeit everything's just a little too bright and shiny... Screenshots from DTG in the link below:

If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!

DTG have been having problems with the lighting engine lately- the brightness tends to wash out the scenery a bit like an overexposed photo. I'm sure they're aware of the problem as it's a constant complaint on their own forums. Along with other complaints that get mixed in with the white noise...not sure how far up the fix chain the lighting sits lol.

          Kind regards,
          Dave

The route itself is a cracking bit of work, just let down by the lighting and the poor timetable.

I actually had most fun so far running it with a Class 45 and stock.

That lighting is funny- on some of the older DLC everything seems dark, whereas with the newer builds, overbright. Hopefully they'll get that sorted. I haven't even looked at the timetable yet, but if it's anything like the last few DLC timetables I'm imagining it's lacking substance.

I'll have to see if I have a DMU that will go on the route via the scenario builder.

Just finished a longish run in the Jubilee from the Journey's folio, Manchester to London Pancras, managed to only fall behind by a minute at both stops lol. I think I finally figured out the reverser with the regulator % so I wasn't stuck chugging at 20 mph like yesterday. I had similar trouble in TSC steam years ago then finally the light bulb lit up. Oh well. And I missed seeing the Bakewell Factory...was hoping for a free tart/pie. Or even a jaffa.

              Kind regards,
              Dave

Nice screenshots Vern, the early morning/late summer evening period must be a good one to pick for lighting.

Yes it’s just a shame the scenario editor doesn’t allow you to change weather or season. So we are left with a very unlikely full sunny or clear British summer!

Is this not possible with TSW:God Mode from trainsimcommunity.com?

Ah if so I will have to check that out.

Once again a community mod rescues DTG from their idleness.
