With preorder discount, comes out at just under £40 for three routes plus the Flying Scotsman and the various new features and QOL improvements. My take is it’s a content bundle which gives you TSW4 for free.
Route and decent scenario editor of particular interest to me.
Yes there’s bound to be issues and I wish the ECML was a different section and earlier era, but Peterborough to Doncaster is a good old run.
Antelope Valley we already touched on over in the Run 8 forum and here a bit too. Been looking for this in a sim since the mid 90’s.
All in all fairly happy with what’s on offer so gone ahead and ordered it. Just got to wait for 21st September!

I was thinking of pre-order for Special Edition £67, but if i do i am calling myself a liar.

I have been running TSW2 the last two days. I do like the Pennine route and 70's setting. The last thing i bought was that Crewe steam abomination route.

Now i see that pile of scrap metal FS is in TSW4, in preservation guise. What a complete waste of time and effort. Apart from that everything else is modern era, which seems to be the way these train games are going. I will have to think long and hard. If my TSW2 content is useable in 4, i might consider it.

I don't think the Special Edition offers much over the Deluxe TBH, which with the discounts is £39.74. The only route I needout of that is West Rhine which will probably be in the autumn sale for £15.

Agree Class 800 on the ECML not exactly my cup of tea either, but if the route is done well, the new scenario editor should make it easier to put a loco hauled or HST timetable on there. Then even Run 8 seem to have abandoned anything vintage in their game, if they had a F7 set or similar I might be tempted by Horseshoe Curve but otherwise afraid not.

Vern, the Special says 4x extra TSW compatible routes. But does not actually name them. Just watched a vid on YT, i didn't even know there was a 4F in TSW3. Now that is a proper loco and i wouldn't have minded having that if i had known. Well at least the ECML route is 80 miles, that JT Blackpool route is only 48 miles. Modern rubbish for the kids, probably more expectancy from developers. That us oldies are going to die off sooner than the youngsters. So the revenue stream is better aimed at them and capturing a younger player base.

The JT Blackpool route is set in 1986 so they are layering in just about every classic diesel loco in the game.

Mike - the 4F came with the Peak Forest route, though a bit under utilised mainly on shunting and they missed a trick not layering it on the Scouse route either. But it is much nicer than the Jubilee or 8F. I still want a Hall and Pannier though, plus the Riviera Line to run them on!

Vern is the Peak Forest route, steam era or some tourist lash up, buddy ?

1986 is good for Blackpool, but way too short for my tastes. I will enjoy running an EE Type 4 up the 80 miles of ECML though, so it's not all bad 😼.

Never going to get the complete set of GWR\WR loco's like i have in TSC. But anything at all in that direction. Would be very welcome by me as well, in TSW4.

Looked up the Peak Forest route on Steam, dumbo here should have thought of that before asking. 1960's so deffo interested, but at 38 meagre miles yet another DTG rip off. 4F looks lovely in the video though, fair play.

The major change that nobody has yet noted from the news release is that the PC version will have optional tools for Route Editing, tools for creating Locomotives and Rolling Stock, Scenery, something that has been withheld on all previous versions. I refused to even take a look at this sim as a result of no route editor or asset creations tools. This may now warrant a second look, news release link is below for further details.
