Got to admit, when they showed the section about creating a simple run my old brain started to sizzle. Would be funny if making a timetable was harder than building the route. I was expecting something more spreadsheet or text based. Still, most of the routes I’m interested in have a maximum of about 4 trains a day (or 4 trains a week in some cases!) which should cut down the work a bit.

I am trying to get the normal UE world editor running just to test how it runs on the old laptop, but struggling as the installer keeps hanging. It also doesn’t have the means to directly import the DEM data which the TSW version apparently does. Will try again later today, otherwise just wait for the real thing.

4 trains a day, sounds like Johnston Vern 😉. Timetable creation like anything will be a hard learning curve. Myself i am not going to bother looking at the UE editor. Will just confuse me, particularly if it is a lot different to DTG's hacked editor. Yup TSW editor directly imports DEM and GE overlays, not sure about other maps. Something Trainz badly needed from the day it changed from "model layouts on your pc", to "Trainz Railroad\way Simulator" (TRS2004).

Did you run the UE editor exe as administrator, buddy ?

Got the UE4 editor working now. Couldn’t get terrain to load but the good news is, didn’t seem to be stressing the hardware any more than TRS19 or TSC.

So I might try and teach myself some Blender in the meantime make some station signs or similar, as you can bet your boots most of the built in content like stations will be whole units that can’t easily be used on your own project.

Proper job then Vern. Yup TSC went that way with complete models, pain in the rear for freeware route creation.

Vern, Pete Willard made a really nice guide that covers asset creation in blender:

Open Rails Blender Content Creation Notebook. Contribute to pwillard/ebook-ORTSBCCN development by creating an account on GitHub.

The guide has a higher level focus on openrails, but I think you'll find the blender section to be very relevant.

Thanks Jack, I’ll grab that later and study it.

Slight hitch with that Jack. All I'm getting from that page is the index, not the full 170+ page document.

Right click, open in new tab, worked here. You might need pdf reading software installed or browser that auto opens pdf's.

If you scroll down, at the end of the index should be a button 'More Pages' ( At least that's how it's for me)

Going to be a pass from me.
I spent money on add-ons for TSW3, and now DT decided to remove TSW3 from game pass on Xbox live.
I no longer have access to the game, or all the add-ons.

Not giving them any more money after another cash grab action.

Hopefully you didn't buy too many routes. I wonder how many people end up doing the same thing.

Seems like if Dovetail's going to list something for free/rent, they should commit to offering it that way forever, or limit those versions so they can't purchase DLC.

Game pass is designed to have multiple games, that you are still essentially paying for, through the game pass ultimate feature. It's between $15-16 per month that I pay.
I spent a good chunk of change on several payware add ons from TSW all the way into 3. Unfortunately DT must have realized they weren't making as much as they should with the basic game being sold for full price. Only reason I even downloaded any of them is because they were on game pass.

So, obviously a cash grab for a cash cow they keep regenerating every year with a few changes and more eye candy graphics..
Eventually it's going to be a dead horse they keep beating, especially if they end up removing TSW 2 and 2020 from game pass as well, and expect people to pay full rate...

Shawn's example is why I won't do Steam or XBox as a gaming platform. You're at the whim of the licensor.
