    Trainsim World 5

Worst kept secret...actually young Alex did well not to leak it since, apparently, they've known since March this was coming. I'm looking forward to the WCML portion, and the 390, and the Frankfurt to Fulda will be interesting (and dare I say, busy). Not fussed about another US passenger route although it sounds like the MBTA are supporting the effort so it may well be one of the better passenger sets. The LA-SBD Metrolink route...yawn...yeah, I'll just sim in Run 8. Pre-ordered.

The TSW5 pack is free for a month after release (17 Sept), going back to the old financial model from Railworks/TS days where the upgrade is 'free'. I'm not sure if TSW5 base game is going FTP after the first month. I'm sure someone can correct me.

Basic upgrade is free. Personally I’ve gone for the deluxe pack on the PC, muggins that I am, but looking forward to the three routes. Euston to MKC should have gone at least to Northampton if not Rugby, but hey ho. At least you get the full DC line to drive between Euston and Watford Jn.

The big cheese for me will be the forthcoming JT route WCML over Shap Preston to Carlisle set in the 80’s with a Class 87 AC electric. Going to be spending a lot of time on that.

Also appears the free upgrade will apply to my TSW3 on the PS5 where I never bothered buying TSW4 so again can’t really argue with that.

Probably end up regretting it and declare a waste of £55!

Actually already contemplating downgrading my preorder to the Standard edition from Deluxe. 390 could be another bore fest like the ECML Azuma, the Vectron already exists in game - nice loco but really just a green Flixtrain reskin along with the coaches. Cajon like most people I already own it. Be patient and wait a few months, the 390 and Flix thing will be on sale at 50% which is less than the £20 difference in asking price.

Well i hope not Vern, you obviously get a lot of use and enjoyment from TSW.

I don't miss TSC or TSW, neither have been installed for weeks, probably more like months.

                All the best buddy.

Funnily enough Mike, found myself back in Run 8 yesterday evening, picking up my SoCal session with the Oil Cans.

Yeah Vern, just read your post in the R8 section. A change is as good as a rest buddy. I have absolutely nothing against the R8 developers. I have said before, the only reason it is not on the pc. Is my lack of interest in local industry and shunting operations. The vegetation is poor but just have to look passed that. I saw on YT last night TSW5 will now allow a player to be the guard. That will become boring very quickly, walking up and down the train asking for tickets and opening and shutting doors.

I'm surprised that DTG haven't slapped together Train Guard Simulator 2024, where if you buy the deluxe super duper version, you'll get the coveted LMR kit and the drooled over BR kit c. 1975. Easily integrated with Trainsim World Eleventy One, With freshly pressed DLC arriving every three months, you too can live the dream of being "Train Guard!"

The one that's getting me at the moment is how they trying to sell "route hopping" as a thing. It's basically going to be a short cut that circumvents going back to the menu. It's not going to bring your current train into the adjacent section as if it carries on, importing any delays to it and the rest of the service. Sheer gimmick as are most of the other so called core updates.

They can't even answer a couple of questions from me about the save game - more slots and the ever present bug where if you go back to the trainwhen finishing a run, take over another train, save then load that later the objective data has vanished.

I refuse to even claim the free core edition, purely because of their use of the usage of an AI voiceover. I stand in solidarity with the scriptwriters, animators and arists, and voice actors who have had entire careers wiped out under them because of AI usage.

Now, in all fairness, we do not know the extent that it's being used, and the only person that has been doing the voiceover for tutorials up to this point has been Matt. However, even if they're just replacing Matt, and even if its just for the tutorials, every use of a unique AI voice is still jobs that are being circumvented to pay an AI company instead, rather than paying real human beings who are career professional voice actors, who have families to feed and bills to pay. You don't even need to pay a giant wage for a professional voice actor, hire somebody from Fiverr, hell, you can just give a small bonus for somebody in the office to volunteer for voiceover work.

There is currently a strike going on of Hollywood and gaming voice actors over increasing AI job replacements, which should tell you the severity and how very real this situation is. I, myself, have had a job replaced by automation, so I am very, very, VERY, aware of how this affects people on an individual level. Thankfully it was just a temporary job, but I think of the people who are actual career artists, who work for decades on perfecting their craft, get instantly replaced by a machine that you can just feed words into.

Just had it confirmed on their forum no change to the save game. No extra slots, no fix for objectives failing to load when you restore a save game after you’ve taken over another train straight after finishing the previous run. Oh but feel free to log it as a bug, despite this having been done countless times before.

And it looks like LNWR or whoever runs the Euston local services just got their measure. Just pulled their brand licensing for the WCML South route so all the stations and Class 350’s are having to be redone without branding and logos. Also no change to their stance on ot making any further changes to steam traction physics.
