Just Trains WCML Over Shap Route

Now has a release date of 21st November. Not going to be cheap at £32.99 but this will be the longest UK route in TSW to date and the tap changer Class 87 electric loco will be a challenge. I know Just Trains haven’t always had a sterling reputation with their TSC stuff, but they seem to do better with TSW and purely IMHO this is going to be a Day One DLC for me.

Decent length indeed Vern. Shows you it is not a game engine limitation. With all these short DTG routes. It is just laziness and money grabbing.

After you've tried it out Vern, please give us your opinons. This is one route I'd be interested in.

I will indeed Bruce. Like I said, Just Trains and indeed Just Flight have a mixed reputation when it comes to their earlier stuff, but they do seem to have put a good team together for TSW. Unlike DTG they’re not afraid to have a go at more classic stuff, rather than the constant flow of modern electric commuter routes with one handled EMU’s.

I do have to say that Just Train's final collection of routes for TSC, Midland Main Line and associated expansions (Hope Valley especially) are quite excellent and greatly surpass their earlier routes. If they can recreate that quality in TSW than this could be quite a good route.

Most welcome Bruce. For me it looks like the best route so far for TSW.

It's been pushed back a week so I'll still be looking for Vern's opinions.

Should be out Tuesday 26th. I’ve been watching part of the stream while stuck indoors due to the lousy weather. It is looking pretty good and the 87 in particular comes over as superb, particularly the sound. Only downer was the stutter and sound rubber banding, but that’s down to shortcomings with the core game that DTG seem incapable of sorting out.

Based on about 40 minutes of driving, after the route eventually turned up on Steam and downloaded.

Excellent route and loco though convinced they haven’t got the tap changer quite right on the 87. Was always under the impression if you hit Notch Up it should spring back to the Hold position so you can tap up one at a time, or push through to hold it in run up.

However… performance is abysmal. Getting massive hitches and rubber banding with the sound, which ruins the otherwise very good job done with the audio. Can’t just be a potato PC issue as people are reporting this on the consoles, too. Most likely the core game which got worse with TSW5 but the route could probably do with some optimisation. Lots of high density grass and crops everywhere.

Anyhow I’m going to keep it and maybe mess around with a few settings see if that improves things. There’s also the possibility that on the first run, the route is building its shaders though I always regarded that as a bit of an excuse.

Potato pc, potato consoles and potato game Vern 🤣🤣🤣.

Finger is hovering for a UK TSW5 purchase though, just to then buy this route.

Loved it in TSC, well actually i loved the Preston - Glasgow - Edinburgh merge more.

With the upgrades you did recently Mike, it might run better. Going to have another run later after checking a few settings, there’s no doubt JT have done a good job let down by Dovetail inept programming.
