    I want to be a modeler for MSTS

    Hi, I am playing Micreosoft Train Simulator(MSTS) since it´s launch in 1998, for more than 26 years. For my experience, i am now a veteran player, but i Want to create models for MSTS, specially driveable vehicles such automobiles, specially classic/vintage automobiles, and fantasy locomotives, which program and special tools do you suggest to start modeling.

    For 3D modelling I would suggest learning Blender. It's open source, free, and it has an exporter for MSTS (https://github.com/pwillard/Blender_MSTS_ORTS_Exporter). More importantly there are a wealth of tutorials on youtube and other web sites on how to use it.

    If you are interested in using Blender, I would suggest watching the first 15 (short) videos in the First Steps - Blender 2.80 Fundamentals, to get an overview of how it works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MF1qEhBSfq4&list=PLi7divydEdBt2pFF5y5pwwUn DEVYBhclp

    If you are still interested then watch more tutorials on 'hard surface modelling' and creating 'low poly models' game assets to get started. Learning how to make soft bodies like donuts and sculpting is fun but does not use the sort of modelling techniques you normally use for MSTS vehicles.

    Pete has created document called ORTS-CC-Notebook.pdf ( https://github.com/pwillard/ebook-ORTSBCCN ) that is a gold mine of information specific to ORTS and MSTS asset creation.

    You will also need to learn how to use a 2D graphics program. I personally use GIMP which is also open source and free. Again, like Blender, there are many free tutorials on youtube on how to use it. There are also many other free and paid options out there and hopefully others will join in with their recommendations.

    You will also need a .ACE file conversion program if creating models for MSTS like TGATool2A ( https://www.trainsim.com/forums/file...leid?fid=10152 ). There are number of different options available here and I believe Pete's documentation covers this.

      If you find Blender difficult to learn, you still have Train Sim Modeler which is on the File Library https://www.trainsim.com/forums/file...leid?fid=88359 you need to be logged into Trainsim first before clicking on the link

      You can also still use Amabilis 3d crafter 10, it's 100% free! It is only optional to buy the Pro version for certain features

        Hi Phil,
        Sorry, mate, but Train Sim Modeler is NOT available as fileID 88359!

        It WAS available from Louis Sinclair's (the author) site until he closed it. It is available from a third-party's embargoed website, but you'll need to search for it yourself.

        I have sent a Facebook message to the person I believe is Louis Sinclair, seeking his permission to upload the original TSM to this site.

          Hi All,
          Louis Sinclair has now, very kindly, given me permission to upload his last version of Train Sim Modeler to this site

          I know it's an old program but it's still viable for model building. No support will be offered but I'm sure any problems will be dealt with by the very knowledgeable members here!

          I hope to be uploading it in the next few days.

            Train Sim Modeler was already in the file library, but download was not enabled. Eric has now done that so you can now get v1.1!
