Now this is fun, because it doesn't pretend to be something that it isn't.

    Nevada-Arizona-Utah route, from the Workshop.

We do, but there is a strong leaning towards "clean energy" - to the extent that several coal-fired power stations are closing or have already closed.
Ironically, the electricity used to power the railways comes from power stations in those regions.

It certainly does, as you would have discovered by now.

Same here Bruce, coal fired is out of favour. But then in the UK electrification is seen as a low carbon solution.

So no idea how they are going to generate the electricity, as nuclear is also out of favour.

Yes thank you Bruce, asked the question and then went and bought the game.

I don't think i am going to be able to build the long model railway, i wanted to.

There seems to be some sort of restriction, in regards room size.

Fifty units is the longest but you could double-back a couple of times. That's what I'm doing.

Any idea if the signals actually control the trains and what are the little switches for on the back of the signal heads, please ?

Update posted on the RL Steam page in 2018, Mike.

Today's update adds something everyone's been waiting for since the games release, working automated signals in custom track! These signals are just visual, and trains will not automatically stop/start based on signals (this is something for a future update!) You can now choose to "setup" and "edit" signal heads to make them respond to trains automatically. you can set the distance down the track that the light will appear orange and red.

It's worthwhile browsing his Events notices....some helpful info.

Thank you Bruce, much appreciated. So the signals are for show only.

Funnily enough i came here from perusing the RL discussion threads on Steam.

But did not realise there was an events notices section.

                    Nice one buddy.

He does mention that at some point he will update them to operational status.
I also learned that, in 2018, he was 22 years old. Young for someone so dedicated to what he has created and is continuing to update. Kudos to him for doing so.

Thanks Bruce, it's not a problem. As i see the focus more on layout building, rather than running the models.

Young indeed and he obviously has a clear vision, in regards the direction he wants RL to go in.

Haverfordwest Mike, or, is it Jerry?
Would you also be known as Dogbert?

I went with a single axle, envisioning just starting out at the time, now I've 2 paid drivers, 2 Petes, 1 garage,
I didn't bother keeping a truck for myself, I hire myself out to other Co.s, whiles my drivers keep the business afloat.

I use a money and xp cheat in both truck sims. As i am not interested in the economy part of the games.
