    Railroader - Shortline Operations

Well you guys that have been looking for Steam (Railroads Online is still looking good for now but check what's coming down the line here).

Quincy got my attention on this one as it's transition era shortline operaitons. Reminds me of Run8 and has some built in operations such as switch lists. The graphics are amazing.

Railroader (formerly Shortline Simulator) reproduces the on-the-running-board experience of the engineers, the conductors, the brakemen - the railroaders: mo...

Thanks Sean, the night shots are a knockout...wow! Of course, it was produced to look good, get some interest stirred up, nice job though. Soundtrack, well done also.

you're welcome! Yeah and it was done with Unity vs Unreal which I think is pretty cool considering that is what I was using. It's often thought of the less superior of the two but still holds it's own.

At first look I thought a Steam simulation similar to Railroad's Online. What actually got me even more excited was the angle cocks (which reminded me of Run8 though a bit more intuitive I must say vs computer buttons). Then what sold it to me was of course the switch list.

Not sure what the price is going to be as they are skipping Early Access and going right to full version on release. I'm curious what the repeat playability is giong to be like. It's only 17 miles of track at the moment. I know for some that will be a downer but here is where I have hope. If they can make those 17 miles different yet routine to make it challenging they have something that people will want to come back to in my opinion.

Definately something I have my eyes on.

      Thanks

I've leared a bit more from the developer on Discord. Apparently it runs a 6:1 fast clock which I think is totally understandable being a short line. At 8am each morning the interchange produces cars for both shippers and consignees requesting loads or empties in your territory.

There are no scenerios. You are provided an online interactive switch lists that updates when cars are set out or moved into other locations. This includes cars headed for the interchange for the 8am pickup next day.

You get paid for deliveries and this is used for upgrades. I believe this will include expenses as well (but I'll clarify that with the team). Transition era steam and diesel are represented well including basic car types that server the area. They are automatically numbered and shown on the cars and engines.

There is some kind of color code for proximity to destination for each tag (I think if I understood). They are still working on various physics but angle cocks, air, etc. are already part of the trains including the ability to kick etc.

                Thanks

Railroader can't come soon enough for me. Knowing what it can do has pretty much dropped all interest of anything else.

Screenshots on the Discord continue to impress.

                  Thanks
