Funny thing is 2 nights ago the servers were down worldwide. I was back on last night. Another thing if your just starting out the west coast servers (I think it's EN4 - don't quote me I'm at work) are not that busy. So if you are worried about screwing other people up this is a good proving ground because it's just AI and they don't really care as much about red signals.

I was in a box last night that turned out to be better than I expected.

    Thanks

I tried the Australian server at @ 1230 GMT/UTC today and there was no one else on apart from me. Gave me an opportunity to play with one of the "NX" style tiled panels for about half an hour.

Had the invite this morning. I hope it is really good, sick to death of all the other train game mediocrity.

Dispatcher looks good, i watched a 30 min video on YT yesterday. Bloke explained it really well.

Total fail, could not move the EU07 and auto drive did not seem to be working.

Any manuals anywhere boys, please ?

Graphics look excellent and with everything set to "High" the walking mode was very smooth.

Yeah I got stuck in a similar traffic jam last night at the end of my video near Lazy. If you were on EN2 I was probably up ahead of you a bit

I was able to run a good 45 minutes before that so they still have to work out some kinks. That dispatch board I know from experience is a PITA to run, but I do want to figure it out.

Hang in there, I figured you guys might like this one. Me being a North American freight guy I'm presently surprised at my enjoyment of this. They are challenging to drive once you get the hang of it but keeps you on your toes. I actually blew by a red signal earlier that evening in approach to the traffic jam.

              Thanks

There seems to be an issue with that at the moment. I had to try several servers yesterday evening before finding one where the train isn't stuck behind something in front. Also if you get the failed to connect to server message, after clearing it will load into a kind of limbo scenario where it places you in a parked train which appears to be live but the pantographs are down and can't be raised, nothing works. You need to Esc back to the main menu and try again.

I like the MP but really can't wait for the SP to start in 5 days time.

The EU07 is a beast once you get it moving.
Basic key commands are Numpad + - for throttle.
Numpad / * for the shunt regulator, shift up once you get to Notch 28 for more power.
Numpad 3 9 for train brake but as discussed on the forum if you want fine control between initial and full service you need to use the mouse as hitting 3 after initial puts you straight to maximum braking.
Spacebar to cancel the vigilance but I switched it off in options, a PITA I can do without.

There doesn't seem to be any sort of PZB style acknowledgement for caution signals as you would find on the German stuff.

Anyhow I still think it's looking good and from the feedback on the official forum the devs are listening and to some extent interacting with the feedback from the playtest, keep pushing new builds as they address the issues. Unlike another certain fire and forget developer...

Vern, i only applied to have a look. MP is not my thing as you have to rely too much on other people.

Really like the look of it overall though. What is this about SP in 5 days buddy ?

I thought the full release was 13.01.23. I turned the vigilance off in the options as well.

I have been using the mouse for everything controller wise. As i cannot remember all the keystrokes.

If you hold down left mouse button on the reverser, power wheel and train brake etc. You can then use the scroll wheel for movement.

Anyway looks promising, which is a relief for me.

                    Mike.

That's my take on MP too, Mike.

I did try the "SimRail Prologue" but wasn't terribly impressed.

Yes the single player test unlocks on 21st Dec. It looks like they have had a big server crash tonight, so going to have a quick look but may end up leaving it until tomorrow.

@Bruce, I played the prologue and like you I wasn't terribly impressed, reminded me of Railroad Tycoon 3. What's being tested now is much, much better (apart from the server issues) and well worth another look if you can get on the test (and a server... ).

Yeah they are having some issues either with the AI in the latest update or people screwing up the boards and trying to crash servers (at least that is the rumor).

The team is very good with updates and communication within their forums.

Single player apparently will NOT allow you to dispatch trains. I'm hoping for some private servers or something like that. Though all the various options give you plenty of choices.

                          Thanks

I won't worry about trying the MP version....it doesn't interest me. But will try the SP version when it's released.
Not being able to desptach doesn't concern me at all.

I did try dispatching at Lazy Lc late last night after the servers came back on and it seemed to be working fairly well and the neighbouring AI dispatchers seemed to keep things moving.
What worries me now is more people coming on and messing around, there needs to be a few servers that only allow you on if you have done x amount of hours maybe or like Sean said private ones, maybe there will be in the final version.
Of course we can report trouble makers on the tab list.

Yes it needs to be like Elite Dangerous where you could join a group that kept an eye on things and booted anyone who griefed other players. I just tended to travel away from the populated areas, usually on the outer edge or up to Beagle Point. I'm afraid unless they get a grip on this it could kill their MP dream before it gets started.
