Still a bit under the weather Bruce but slightly better today. Fever has come down but my smell/taste has left the building. Not best timing for Christmas dinner...

I can't get my head round this at the moment, it looks good, but, having to go onto servers to play single player is daunting and time consuming and just faffing about takes away any excitement as such, I just want to jump in, I'll figure it all out in January, hopefully.

Merry Christmas to all train simmers globally, stay safe and have an enjoyable time, all the best.

        Cheerz. Steve.

I wasn't replying to you Seagoon about servers I was replying to somoene else's concern about the servers being in Poland close to a war zone. I get a ping of about 144 and oddly enough even lower in the UK. Australia for me is in the 900's so yeah it's localized. I try to answer as many posts as I can in one as I don't have time to quote everyone.

The servers as I mentioned aren't that bad to get into if you time it properly. The reason for the reboots is there is some issues with how the AI handles, as well as new dispatchers routing trains wrong. I was in SG again last night right after a server reboot right on time as usual and because it was Christmas Eve it was also pretty dead. Still had a few challenging situations from the few people that are on.

This is why MP is a double edged sword. I agree that there should be private servers as well. However provided nobody is being an idiot or trying to sabatoge the server (which really hasn't happened with preventitive measures in some of the later updates) the randomness is what makes each new run totally different. AI doesn't have randomness built in it simply runs at maximum efficiency and everything is either on or ahead of schedule as predicted. Players even those with good intentions have a random delay mechanism and at times make small operating errors that make each run very enjoyable.

Still I can't wait for the full release and the fixes but I understand this likely might be delayed or it seems that way considering they are still working on this pretty hard (while taking deserved time off for the holidays).

          Thanks

I don't think the SP game requires you to connect to a server Steve, the only issue being all we got for the playtest was the tutorials from the original demo. That's why at present everyone is using MP. Hopefully that will all change with the full release, though the devs haven't really stated exactly what shape the SP will take - will it be MSTS/TSC specific scenarios/activities or TSW style all day timetable?

I only managed to get my hands on the prologue version with it's single tutorial along with same without instructions, both very short runs with an invisible wall upon completion. I had put in for MP never a peep. I'll await public release whatever's offered.

Spot on, Vern. No server connection with the SP and it is exactly the same as the Prologue......and that is why I opted for trying out MP.

I haven't tried the tutorial for the steering wheel engine yet becasue I thought I was doing pretty good. Today however I ran into some issues where I got stalled and couldn't recover at the 53 minute mark with a cargo train. I also found a bug at the 1:42 minute mark with the actual AI and track speeds while now driving a passenger train. Both times where with the sterring wheel engine. The 2nd issue was AI / track speed and had nothing to do with the engine.

I'm hoping to find more information about traction and slipping or slip indicators as I had another issue with the green and white engine in the demo at a big grade coming up to the bridge. I'm not sure if some grades are simply in bad shape and too steep, or the power is not enough to overcome certain grades. Perhaps it operator error but this is the 2nd engine now (my favorite) that I couldn't figure out a way to overcome and had to give it up to the AI to finish while I chose another service.

Some more detailed manuals would be much appreciated for both the signal boxes and the engines. The tutorials are nice but they are very basic and don't get into the more advanced features that are required to operate properly since they are simulated.

Otherwise I still have lots of fun on MP and can always find plenty of action in a 3 hour block of time.

It's still daytime in Poland, and an opportunity to run in the day is now. So I'm looking for a long train either passenger or freight to run.Official Disco...

For those looking for a full schedule to try and get a good service I have a WIP sheet available here for your viewing pleasure https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

I demonstrate how you can use this early version in the latest stream I did this morning. My goal was to make it to the big station and I was able to find the best service available when I joined to accomplish that task.

I'll be modifying this sheet to include a full system timetable once I add a few formulas to the mix.

                    Thanks

Is it me or have things gone off the boil a bit? Must admit I haven't been on, SP or MP, since before Christmas partly due to feeling a bit run down with this Covid bout and partly because I've been driving my new TSC acquisitions. There still has been no response from the devs on questions such as the save game function and of course the SP test itself is a bit underwhelming. I know the devs were taking a couple of well earned days off fir Chrustmas, but with release just over two weeks away one would have thought they'd be back in full swing by now.

I've given up on play-testing Multiplayer simply because I'm frustrated by the lack of decent tutorials/instructions.
Also gave up SP because it's identical to what I had with Prologue.

There are lots of bugs coming up and they appear to be focused on that if you look in that channel. I did put a suggestion about single player worlds and even possibly private MP which is similar to what Run8 has, with no response. Honestly that is to be expected since despite their size they have lots to focus on with the release coming. You are not the only one as talk about producing a system map of what is going to be available at the release has not been updated and is overdue when promised etc. I think they are under some heavy pressure just to get this ready and likely have more bugs then they anticipated. There was also a dispatch board that was not promised but expected to be released for testing by now. Obviously they still have some issues if it's not here yet.

I would think single player will be scenerios but for all we know it could be a world save (but I doubt it). Run8 has the best model in the business when it comes to world saves. They already have about 20 plus trains running (not sure how much is simulated with their AI) so perhaps resources will be an issue.

We don't have too long to wait to see where things are at. If released it will then be up to the consumer to vote on if it's good enough. We are not going to get everything we want as there has been a heavy push for private servers and I don't think that is happening. The focuse like Run8 was in the beginning if you recall will probably be on getting AI working properly, and MP.

                          Thanks

One other thing if I caught word properly the price is cheaper than the current version of Run8. Thought I heard $20 or $30 but it was not as high as $40. Not sure what TSW sells their garbage for these days but that is already a discount. You have a few more unique features, but you may be missing the ones you are used to.

                            Thanks

TSW is now US$40 for a ~25 mile route. If it's going to be in the region of US$30 that will be around £25 which is a very good price indeed. Will still be a Day 1 purchase for me regardless, though I did blow my remaining Steam Wallet funds on Mass Effect Legendary yesterday evening, couldn't resist at £12. My ME1 was the old EA version which had issues in Windows 10 and only ran up to 1920 x 1080, not 4K. ME2 had the version which required the DVD in the drive when playing. Playing all three back to back was one of my best ever gaming experiences, looking to relive that.

Haven't looked at it for days. Only the one loco interests me and possibly the steam loco if it is included at release.
