I'd imagine the content creators and the game coders don't have a lot of overlap. We certainly haven't seen that in the other sims to date... you're either one or the other.

Agree Mike. Still haven't been back on it pretty much since buying the full release. Even Run 8 has better support for SP and that really did start out primarily as a MP game with SP as an afterthought.

Gone Run8 as far as no collision properties for loco's and rolling stock as well Vern.

But at least i can sit in the seats correctly using the external camera (key 2). Unlike the dumb angles that key 4 camera gives.

Piccies are taken with Reshade installed and pre-set used from their forum (user created). To be honest i don't think the preset does much.

It's been a while since I played it but come to think of it, unless all those big stations are located miles from the population centres they serve, they do seem to have gone a bit Run 8 so far as scenery is concerned.

Really depends how they base the checkpoints. If it's station calls then you might still be limited if the time between stations exceeds what you have available. They could be going down the Snowrunner route of having a time interval save but really in this day and age there is no excuse for any game claiming to be a simulator not offering an unrestrained save system.

Fair points Eric, maybe they are incapable of an on the fly save system.

No i don't either Bruce, i like auto saves which you can set intervals for in the setup options.

Backed up with a manual save option, by the player.

Quite a few games i own use that system buddy.

    Agreed.
I don't like games which have "Make it to here and you can Save!" as the method.

Quick saves are the way to go, as a minimum: each save does so on top of the previous save. No accumulation of saves, only ever the one.

Agree that as a user it's not convenient to have to reach a certain point in the game to be able to resume it later.

As a developer, I can see how they might see checkpoints as a compromise that can be quickly implemented.

And... that's assuming I'm reading what they meant by checkpoint correctly.

Just guessing but I think they have predetermined points where a save would roll back to. Not a bad idea, actually, because you can flush out events from memory.

They are fixing bugs, Bruce. As long as they are MP bugs of course
