Picked this up at a nice price on Steam. I was pleased with the logistics network in place. Takes a bit of getting used to but it should keep me busy for a little while.

Some big updates in the near future as they finish work on the simulation mode. It is more of an economic simulation than some of the other train games and so far as I can tell, delivering goods is not essential to generating outbound cargo at the destination. The only downside is it can be a bit grindy unlocking licences for the more lucrative cargo runs and the big SD40 style diesel (I found the steam loco too much to handle) and of course once you’ve been round the map a few times can get repetitive. However the graphics are nice and shows what can be done with Unity in the right hands.

Yeah I still think about the Unity side and what I can do. I know the transfer of cars and switcing from an FH job to SH works as expected. I'm not sure about the logistics side of things and when it becomes something else. I finally did comes across some cars that got through their cycle and had no job assigned. For me I like the economic side because it gives a bit more purpose. I do fear it may become repetitive but for the small price I still have a long way to go. It might be just enough to get me through until the release of Railroader. That will be interesting how that handles repetiveness.

Though I'm sure Run8 has plenty of legs right now especially with the great route by Jason, for me their is a disconnect now between single player and multi-player. I strive on the operation side of things certainly more than others. Trying to run a 24 hour clock by yourself even in Northern California thoug doable would have kept me in the yards (as I would have never had time for a full run). The pool of available clients for the smaller servers has not increased but decreased. More people are finding what they need in single player. This was a criticism many had when myself and others suggested AI. So much so I don't feel comfortable in either as I once did. The only logical places to go from there is AI switching and/or even smaller regions. That run end to end in N Cal is a long run and eats up lots of clock in a day.

Trainz and OR for me is not as powerful though it has plenty of player created content due to the ability to have editors. My son is building an empire in Trainz right now. DTG stuff are just cash cows with pretty looking grapics and all of their routes eventually become repetive once you go through it all. Looking forward to the new updates for Derail Valley. Run8 has a tendency of always shocking me with an update from time to time, so I'll keep an eye open. Railroader is not being rushed and will be out this year as well. I don't think I have the skills to build anything as meaningful despite my ideas. Besides, it's a very good looking year for many of the train sims.

Picked up the remote belt pack today. Man that thing is cool to shunt with. Tons of work to do and more comes into play on a regular basis. I enjoy the scaled down version of the yards in what is a pretty big logistics tree. Gives you just enough for multiple sittings. Very addictive, yet challenging enough with plenty of options to make it worth the obsession.

Trouble is we really have a glut of train games now (I know we shouldn't really complain), impossible to spend time on all of them. I blew $40 on that Fitz add on for Run 8, went over it once in one direction and not been back on since. Even my enthusiasm for TSW has waned and apart from maybe one German route coming out, none of their upcoming DLC holds much appeal. Same old, same old. Guess I really do need to drop back into Fallout 4 and start blowing a few heads off, or get that Round The World Tour going in Flight Sim.

DRS is the only one i am bothered about. Cannot understand why i can play SimRail with all settings maxed. But DRS i am watching a slide show, on anything more than minimum settings. Both use the Unity engine, after all.

Well the latest simulator update is a blast! Love the day night and weather environments. Not sure if they improved the logistics system in this update (I don't think I heard anything about it). But my old mods for obvious reasons were removed on the update. I did however get to continue on my previous save.
