    New Uploader

As alluded to elsewhere, I've turned on the new file uploader....

It's organized a bit differently from the previous one, and hopefully won't confuse too many of you by being considerably shorter.

    Differences from the previous:
    • The filename uploaded is what will be reflected in the system. Previously, you could have a different filename from the zip, but that seems to have been rarely used.
    • There's an opt-in for the GNU GPL, which I'm hoping people will increasingly take advantage of. GPL allows free use and modifications, so that 5-15 years from now, we won't have all these "I can't get hold of XXXXX for permission!" type conversations.
    • On the second page, there's a selector for a GIF thumbnail. The catalog looks naked without these, so please include one.
    • After the upload is accepted, the admins will be notified of your upload.

Let me know in this thread if you find any issues... A few of us have used it and it seems to be working as well as the previous one, but there's always the chance I missed something along the way.
If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!

GIF thumbnails. Are there other options like jpeg or bitmap. A GIF is usually a very small image on the train simulator sites. You can't really tell much about a model looking at a GIF and people my opt not to download the file because of it.

It's in the works. Maybe by next week depending on testing.

The image uploader for the reference library -will- convert a png or jpg as well as a pdf into a thumbnail, but I want to test that out a little more separately so that it's a little easier to debug where it breaks.

Feel free to use that as well, it's linked off of the zip up loader but I haven't advertised it yet. If I can get a handful of people to put uploads in there, it'll make it easier to test.
