    Slow/Inoperative Site

Trainsim.com seems to be slow today. I can only get the forum to load periodically, and the file library is just inoperative. Is today a maintenance day or something?

    Happy Easter everyone!!!

8:13 AM MST. It all seems to work just fine for me at the moment.

Checking right now, and CPU is running between 15 and 37% which is a little higher than I'd expect if it weren't a holiday. Memory is between 70 and 80% which again is normal. Disk space is over 80Gb free for logs and downloads.

If we have maintenance, there will be a banner on the site, usually 24h before and 24h after. Linux doesn't require much downtime fortunately.

Your report came in about 1930 India time, 1300 GMT and 0900 Central, so it's possible there was a lot of downloading underway across three continents.

It's settled down now. I've been able to browse and use the files now. There was about a 2 hour window there where I had to go hang out on Elva's Tower because I couldn't get what I wanted done. Everything seems to have settled down now.

Grrrr... now the search is acting up. It doesn't matter what I put in the search engine, it comes up with the same stuff, sorted by newest to oldest. It does NOT find the file I'm looking for. It's getting very frustrating.

Earlier, about 8 hours go or so, the site crashed while doing a search, and won't reload. Wait a few minutes and got back in, now seems okay.

I was looking for L&N locomotives. It's been hit and miss with my searches today for some reason. I've never had this problem here before.

For me the site has always been working well, all day, including the search function.
                  Regards.

If you're searching for L&N... the search help suggests putting a space before and after.

Otherwise, that search pattern will also look for any other word that contains 'LN' next to each other, e.g. Lincoln, Shovelnose,Telnet, wellness....

The alternative is to limit searches to a minimum of three or four character words, but that really messes up when you're trying to do a reporting mark search.

I'll try that. I forget what L&N stuff I was looking for. I think I was trying to build out rolling stock for the Knoxville Sub Route.

Edit: I tested it and it came up with two files. Really old files from 2003 & 2004. I know there's some new L&N stuff because I downloaded some of it.

Searching L&N came up with a lot more.
