Metallica recorded their St. Anger video over the week at San Queint (SP?) the jail, and then they performed a live concert for the inmates. I have quoted James(Hetfield) below:
'I was guilty of compartmentalizing before,' he said, 'perhaps not wanting to see the souls in here. But there are lots of souls here... and I'm not afraid to say that I love you guys.'
He also says that as he starts into the "Master, Master..." bit of "Master of Puppets" it held a slightly different meaning this time. Instead of being a song about the grip of drug sit was a song about the the men in the prison.
I dunno, i just kinda thought this was "cool" in a kinda sweetish way....he mad ea good point, they're all people in there, 50% of them were lifers....but they're still people, born with good inside, and evil as well....may have something to do with the slightly improptu playing of "Sad But True".....
Oh yeah, here's the complete story....
**Note James hugging the inmate in the last picture.
