If you don't mind the past trip. I just took one round trip (Amtrak trains # 303 and 304) from Chicago to Jefferson City, Mo. and back just last week. I did post some pictures and here's the link; [Link Expired]

I just got back the other day from my big Amtrak trip from here in Iowa to Salt Lake City, Utah and back; trains 5 and 6.
I wasn't planning anything spectacular, just ride the train into SLC one night, stay at the depot and catch the next eastbound back, layover of about four hours.
Had an awesome time tho, it was probably the best trip I've taken and it may have changed my outlook on life considering what's happened to me the last few months. I met so many wonderful people on the train, even some Conductors who encouraged me to send my resumé in and try to get on at Amtrak.

Later this summer, I'll have another cabride at the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. They have a 1916 Baldwin H-7 consolidation there, and it used to run for the Western Maryland Railroad. The trainride itself includes 4 horseshoe curves, a tunnel, and you get to see the crew turn around the engine on an old turntable.

I'll be leaving July 7 for an around the country tour on Amtrak. Take the Southwest Chief to LA, board the Coast Starlight to Seattle, head east to Chicago on the Empire Builder, then back home on the Southwest Chief. Hopefully it will be a nice trip away from the hussle and bussle of real life railroading and not to mention the Route Editor. Later this year, I will be heading on an special trip to Powder River and get to tour the many coal mines up there, along with a few cabrides from Orin Jct to Donkey Creek Jct on the Orin Sub. Will be a fun summer for me!
