OT - Bush to Ban Fireworks.

Well... another reason to move to Canada

Sounds like Mr. Bush is going to ban fireworks after New Years... anybody else hear about this?

No I haven't, but I would like to find out more specific details about this. Things like who is the source of the story, if the story is true what is the rationale behind such a decision.

Class C Fireworks, anything that flies up in the air or goes boom, has been banned for personal use in Michigan for years. Many communities also ban anything that is lit and burns in a shower of sparks or smokes. This has all been done by Liberals in their constant quest to attempt to "protect us from ourselves."

Commerical and licened displays are still allowed. Some of the class A and B stuff is even made in Michigan.

There has always been rumors about a fireworks ban. I doubt that there is any connection with Bush, rather it is Homelsnd Security growing way beyond its intended size and role just like ATF has been harassing licened gun dealers for the past 10 years driving 75% of them out of business during the Clinton Presidency. Those people raided a local farm supply store last year, seizing computers and records just because the farm store sold more fertlizer to local farmers then the ATF decided should have been needed.

Of course, other then an occasional raid by State Police on the numerous firework stands that popped up along the highways every year, there will be a constant barrage of "illegal stuff" going off all this week. And, probably a few cases of burns, fingers blown off, etc... by those that will never follow the rules, allow unsupervised children to play with, or have their judgement dimmed under an alcoholic haze.

If that is what it is, already illegal where I live.

In Southern California we have worse problems with the idiots going out into their backyards in dense urban areas and shooting off all their firearms into the air. The laws of gravity, what goes up must come down is totally lost on these clowns.

If you live outside the city limits here you can have most kinds of fireworks other than anything cherry bomb or larger and penny bottle rockets.

I bought my fireworks last year a day after the 4th of July. Here in Colorado you cant buy anything that Blows up of leaves the ground so I went to Kansas wich is 30 miles away and bought alot of stuff that blows up and leaves the ground.
I bought two packages of Morters with 40 shots per box several packages of Roman Candles, Bottle rockets, and alot of black cats all not legel here in Colorado but I am patriotic but if they take the fireworks out of the Forth of July they should take presents out of Christmas.
I am an American.... where we threw tea in a harbor when we didnt like being Taxed with out repesentation then we threw the British out.
Now we are our own country for that and these unpatriotic Polititions dont want us to celebrate. The forth of July is a major Holiday in my book it is a matter of National pride that my ansestors Faught to make this country Free and yes my ansestors did fight in the American Revolution as they came over here 150 years before the Revolution
So Do I have a reason to celebrate.... yes those whose familys who have those who went to war and those whose family had made the ultimate Sacrifice Like one in my family Deserve to celebrate what we keep fighting for.

Saying we cant use Fireworks to Celebrate hell you should just Cancel the holiday all to gather those Communist pigs

If I understood the thread right, its the President himself who wants to ban fireworks (something completely ridicolous in my opinion). I don't think you could call Geroge W. Bush a Communist!

                  How about Adolf Jr?
Tom Ridge can be played by Herr Himmler.
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld can be played by Joseph Goebbels.

Getting closer everyday. There is really no difference between the way the communists and the nazi's ruled.

Given where you and I live, I have to wonder how it will play on the reservations. I'll bet a geedunk it winds up in the Supreme COurt.

Mac, they have a radio spot down here right now for a fireworks company.

Buy $50 worth of fireworks, get a 12 pack of Coke
Buy $100 worth of fireworks, get a case of beer.
This is really smart, give a cajun who just bought a 100 dollars worth of foreworks a case of beer. I wonder if you buy 150 dollars worth they will give you a gift certificate to the nearest ER?
