    Hello New Rail Fan

Just wanted to drop a line. I'm not new to sims as i have had every aviation sim that's ever been put out. I'm a retired Jet Engine Mech from the US Marine Corps. I use to have a train set as a kid and just bought the MSTS and fell in love again with trains.
I browsed your messages and have attached a local web site that you might be interested in

The F.J. & G. was a short line Railroad that ran through Fulton and Montgomery Counties of Upstate New York. In it's prime, the Railroad ran from Fonda to Northville, and it's trolley line connected Gloversville to Amsterdam and Schenectady. The railroad has been gone since 1984.
They have alot of pictures. They were associated with the Delaware Otsego line. They had an RS-3 that was the Reading 492 in the train-sims data base. They also had some S-2's but i havent found any in the files. This line went from steam to Diesal. The rail lines are now turned into bike trails. After the major Glove industries died in my home town of Gloversville th only trains i see are on Route 5 near Amsterdam and Fonda. Which i believe is the Mowawk Sub Division of the Albany Division. I usually spot alot of CSX traffic and a few UP motives. Plus the usual Amtrak. I'm mostly a Freight Fan. So this site and MSTS has brought back the memories of getting yelled at as a kid when we hid close to the tracks to see how brave we were. Now that i'm older i see how dangerous the tracks could have been!!!

Well enjoy the site the guys up here are very proud of the hard work they put into it.

Glad you're enjoying the game! There does seem to be a bit of bleed-over from Flight Simulator to Train Simulator; if this keeps up, perhaps I'll have Microsoft Ocean Liner Simulator sooner or later, which might be fun.

Thanks for passing along that site; I'm browsing it now and enjoying the content. If CSX freight is your fancy for the modern era, I reckon you'll find plenty of stuff to suit your fancy, including those sharp-looking YN3 engines that've been re-released recently.

        Enjoy the site!

          New York Guys:

Welcome, Robert. Glad to have you aboard.

To you and the other New Yorkers, I've got a question:
I'm going to be in Alexandria Bay, just north of Watertown, in September. Are there any decent rail spots to shoot (film) up that way?

          Thanks,
          Bret

            RE: New York Guys:

Hey Pop, the CSX Montreal sub runs through Watertown, I know a pair of CN powered trains use this line daily. If you can, try to get a hold of Joe Hance, he'll be able to give you more details, since he lives in Watertown.

I have a son who has been in the USMC for about 2 years now. He is stationed in Okinawa Japan but is currently being deployed to Australia on a 2 months training with the australians. He is in Sattelite Communications. I remember my trips there (i hope he behaves)LOL
