For the first recipients of the route, it would be nice to know if the creators are still proselytizing to people. No issues with God, but I always thought it was a little creepy in a pedophile way for anyone to be introducing to teens and pre-teens who play the game their religious beliefs against the parent's wishes and probably without the parents even knowing. What parents of train-sim kids would ever suspect an MSTS route will proselytize to their kids? People have their own religious beliefs, and its not the job of 3DTS to counter that in any way. Using MSTS routes you build as a personal soapbox is unprofessional for a company. I would like to know if the practice is continuing.

I agree that separating MSTS and railroading/railfanning in general from real-world issues such as politics, religion, beliefs, etc. is a necessity. That's why "The Yard" (the old forum section here, not my YouTube show "At the Railyard") went down the tubes...it was a bad combination.

I remember downloading a freeware route here on Train-sim where the readme file contained one person's attack against a group of people's beliefs. Needless to say, I was not impressed.

This thread sure has steered all over the map and it seems some want to keep it that way.

What an interesting choice of words Are they really proselytizing to people or are they just modeling the world they see around them? Much like those who model rolling stock with graffiti? I have both the Tehachapi Pass II and Donner Pass route and have never felt like I was being preached to by either route or asked to change my religious beliefs

Kenny1234 says "I always thought it was a little creepy in a pedophile way..."

Kenny1234 has just laid out the wildest of analogies that his brain could lump together, and pulling this entire thread into the ditch. ...nice work Kenny!

I seem to have missed something here, or is being a fan of SP considered a religion ??

Can someone shed a little more light on this ?

                Ordered and patiently waiting
I don't often chime in on posts like these (because it ends up being the same 'my trains are bigger than your trains' drivel every time), but this argument is beyond stupid. It's apples to oranges. The argument is that in most cases you get a route full of stock for the same price. HO is an incongruous argument, and people need to start realizing this and comparing routes to routes - the problem with that, of course, is that it doesn't allow them to act smug about their favourite developers.

And 'better' is in the eye of the beholder. I prefer Danny's locomotives to Scott's, although I like them both (although truthfully I only have the BNSF C44s inasmuch as DW stock is concerned). I also prefer Steve Albini to Bob Rock. Is either 'better?' Depends on your definition of 'better.'

I'll pass on the route because it doesn't really interest me. PO&N interests me. It conforms to the MSTS running I do. The route Jake's working on interests me. This route... not so much. To each his own.

To some of us on the outside, it sure seems like it!

I think what Kenny1234 is refering to is Brad and Company's tendency to attach Biblical references to other wise un-named yard tracks. I too have almost all of the 3DTrainStuff routes and trainsets and and have not taken any offense to the relegious references. I guess it's just a matter of whatever floats your boat.

Yes, but you are an adult. Kids are not adults. Siding definitions are a random object. Even a properly supervising parent who is not 'into' the game themselves could sit with their kid every 5 or 10 minutes watching what their kids are doing and not come across them because of their random nature. To me, that is predatory behavior.

We cannot use harsh language on these forums because of the kids present. Yet, someone with a religious agenda can deliver religious messages under the parental radar and nobody but me has a problem with it? Lets hope someone else doesn't take it upon themselves to deliver Jewish, Muslim or Mormon messages in their route, and let that slip under the radar of a supervising Christian parent. Then the @#$% will fly.

I don't have a problem with it and to call it "predatory behavior" is absurd.

You know, Kenny, I've lost track of all the things you have a problem with -- payware vendors showing screenshots of their new releases, people objecting to piracy, siding names with religious references etc. etc. Is there anything at all in this hobby which you find positive?
