Did you change the size of the screen display by using the monitor's screen adjustments buttons or other built-in functions and everything displayed on your monitor is now the same small size, showing black edges around it ?
As far as I know the MSTS Display options adjust the resolution of the display and not it's window size on the monitor.
What type of graphics are being used, on the mobo chip or card and have you been messing with the drivers for them ?

I believe i am using an OpenGL card but I'm not quite sure and no i was not messing with the drivers....i think.
Then try this.
Right-Click in an empty part of your desktop which will display this and make sure that your Desktop Icons are not set to be arranged in any way to stop them getting all jumbled up when changing the resolution of your Desktop:
Depending on how cluttered with Icons it is it may still mess up the positioning of some.
Then click on Properties and set your Screen Resolution like shown, MSTS preferring Medium (16-bit colors) and do the same in the MSTS DISPLAY OPTIONS.
In the Train Simulator folder run the mprofile.exe with left-double-click to make sure that MSTS is aware of the graphics card being used.
What do you see then when running MSTS ?
