    Yet another PRR East problem...

I'm slowly adding activities to PRR East and ran into a weird problem with the Congressional activity.

I get the folowing 'failed to find' message when i try to stat it up.

....trainset\K4"\K4Tender"BLLW.wag The quotation marks have me puzzled.

The consist is using the BLLW K4 locomotive. I've deleted and installed it twice now and get the same results. installed both the PRR and excursion versions.

The consist name is brocker.con and it looks OK when I look at it in ConBuilder.

Here's what the consists itself looks like:

    Train (
    TrainCfg ( brocker
    Serial ( 2 )
    MaxVelocity ( 49.1744 0.51709 )
    NextWagonUID ( 14 )
    Durability ( 1 )
    Engine (
    UiD ( 12 )
    EngineData ( K4 K4 )
    )
    Wagon (
    WagonData ( K4Tender K4 )
    UiD ( 13 )
    )

Here's what the tender stuff looks like in the K4 locomotive folder.

    Wagon ( K4Tender
    Type ( Tender )
    WagonShape ( K4Tender.s )
    Size ( 3.31m 4.254m 9.727m)
    CentreOfGravity ( 0m 0m 0m )
    Mass ( 100t )
    WheelRadius ( 0.381m )

Any clues as to what the problem might be? I've been trying to track it down all afternoon.

Problems with PRR-ER, be it the Route itself of provided activities, should be posted over on Columbus Locomotive Works site, in the PRR-ER Beta forums...That is where the Developers generally look for issue-posts.

That said, you will need to manually edit the Activity OR Consist to remove the quote marks from the wagon name/path.

Never mind. PRR East is going into the recycle bin. I've been trying all day to get activities to work. It's just not worth the time and effort.

That's not a good idea. I've had a post there for a few days now, and still no reply. If the PRR-ER team wants people to post on their forum, then they should be active on their forum.

Au contrar; If I remember correctly, the Moderators and Administrators of THIS site also prefer that you ask "over there" with your PRR-ER Beta questions...or atleast, if you insist in using this forum, post it in the PRR-ER Beta THREAD...which iirc is stickied so as to have easy access.

Noel's problem is not the PRR-ER, as hundreds (if not thousands) have installed and used the PRR-ER and it's activities with not so many issues as he has been having. Noel's issues more likely stem from user error...based on reading his extra-ordinary amount of "help" threads. Sadly for him, his initial attitude from when he joined up here, has left a bad taste in several people's mouths, so to speak, and he is simply not going to get as much help as he could have.

It's not like the old days of DOS C compilers where you went up and took a shower, did the breakfast dishes, and watched the news while it was compiling a program.

I don't think my computer knows it's not supposed to work with a "D:\Mini Routes\Cajon Pass\launcher.exe" -runeditor command. It seems to work fine like that. Let's not tell it OK? It'll be our little secret.

Then there are replies like above; 1. Vince is a very knowledgable person, and Noel would be worlds ahead if he would heed the advice. 2. Appearently Noel, your Computer does NOT run just fine with "launcher.exe", but your problem, not ours....FYI BIN updates "Train.exe", not "launcher.exe"...DOH!

I know what I post here will sound like a record that has got stuck but if you use Convoi it is simple to swap a piece of stock in a consist which you do not appear to have for one that you do have.I should not give this advice if I have not used said utility successfully myself but it works like a charm. For example with the D&H payware route from MLT I swapped out all the original rolling stock (in both player and AI consists and loose consists)in every activity for the superior freeware items available in the F/L here.I have no association with Convoi save for that of a very satisfied (and grateful) user.

Well, Steven, than you for your comments and pointing out how stupid I am. Duh..."stupid is as stupid does"...if I can quote one of my equally stupid role models.

I have over 40 mini-routes that are working just fine with the setup I have. And when I was trying to get PRR East to work I was using the activity editor to resave the activities it said needed updating. Launcher.exe seemd to work as it has with everything I have done.

As far as having all my rolling stock in a single folder it saves a whole of redundancy. So it takes and extra ten or fifteen seconds to load. That's not a concern for me. What would be a concern is trying to figure what pieces of rolling stock would go where for 40+ mini-routes.

The straw that broke the camel's back for me was not just the K4 tender problem. I had installed the Broadway activities. Got hung up on the Congressional activity with the tender problem. Then when I tried to install the Senator activity and it asked for the BLLW R50B Reefer Pack I couldn't find it anywhere. Not at CLW. Not at BLLW. Not at Elvas Tower. Not here at Trainsim.com. So I said the hell with it. I don't need the aggravation.

Yes, I have asked a lot of questions here. I wan't aware there was some sort of limit. I apologize for that.

I also apologize if I have hurt anybody's feelings. You don't seem to have a much of a sense of humor on this forum.

I may not be the brightest bulb in the room when it comes to MSTS, but I am barely smart enough to know when I am not welcome someplace. I can take the hint Steven.

So adios. I'd say adios amigos, but I don't think I have any amigos here.

                Noel,

The Reefer Pack is under another name. Look for PRR R50b Pack V1.0 on http://www.bllw.net/ > MSTS > Freeware Downloads

See, that is exactly the "attitude" I am speaking of. No one said to leave, no one said don't post so much, and no one called you stupid. I made an observation on the frequency and types of post you make, and how they seem a bit redundant...as in, it seems you are given advice, yet refuse to follow course, and end up right back where you started..asking for very similar types of advice, which you will not accept.

The first question you must answer about the PRR-ER route is; DO you have the Beta CD/DVD, or did you download the multi-part files here (or at CLW)? MUCH of the "content" the activities call for is only available to "real" Beta Testers who paid for the postage to get an actual CD/DVD (which includes the "exclusive" content).

As Charles pointed out above, that particular file IS available, and IN MY OPINION was not all that hard to find at all...the Class and Road are right there in bold print.

I'd like to make cliche statements such as you've made too, but I'm afraid you would turn "Work Smarter, Not Harder" into some sort of me calling you "stupid" comment.
Good example; sure "launcher" works...but "Train.exe" works BETTER, and allows you direct access/control of "tags", like the "memory hack", ie -mem:2048 (which is pretty much a requirement for the PRR_ER and the Horseshoe Curve Routes, among many others)

One last point that YOU do NOT seem to want to ACCEPT... MSTS is NOT "Plug and Play"; MSTS is very "labor intensive"...perhaps Trainz or RailWorks would be a better fit for you (Trainz is still a bit intensive, but yards easier than MSTS)

I've said this previously Steven but it seems it went right over his head.

He obviously doesn't realize that using the Launcher is fraught with problems and is set in his way of doing thing. Unfortunate but to each his own.
It may 'work' but it's not quite 'right'.

Setting -mem:2048 when using the Launcher DOES set additional memory for the Launcher, but NOT the Sim! but he just doesn't seem to get it.
Just like he has stated several time he is giving up on the PRR East, I gave up on him.

Good luck to you Judge. With your attitude, you're gonna' need it. May you live in interesting times.
                    Enjoy!

BTW Judge, I don't think you're stupid . . . just set in your ways. Hey, I'm an old DOS 3.0 guy myself so I do understand it's hard to let go.

This Brocker consist is used by a number of the PRR services and have no problems running them.

Perhaps you should delete it's MINI route folder and re-install it ?

Here are the Desktop Shortcuts you must use in any copy of MSTS, Main or MINI: https://www.trainsim.com/howto/miniroutes/mini.htm

Any path name which has spaces in it must be enclosed it Quotation marks:
                      "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\Train.exe" -toolset
