    Streamlines Download issues

After being away from MSTS for a while, I decided to order the new Seligman 2.0 from Streamlines. On Saturday 12-8-12 I placed my order and payed for same. I immediately received my download link. For some reason, I can only load about 6mb of the route and then the download stops. I contacted SWREG and they gave me the usual info about firewall, virus programs and such. I have tried everything. I started a support ticket at Streamlines and have added 4 messages to it. SWREG said they also have contacted Streamlines for me. I have NOT heard back from either of them. I have since requested that my order be cancelled. I am about to contact my Credit Card company and stop payment. I have purchased all of the earlier Streamline routes as well as numerous train packs from Streamlines. I have sent email to both the support line and the corporate line. Still no response. How disappointed. I am with Streamlines.

Where has the simple customer service disappeared to. Maybe it is time to just move on from the Train Sim hobby and find another.

SWREG has now informed me that the only way to have the charge credited back is to have Streamlines approve the refund. I will be surprised if that occurs, since Streamlines has not even had the courtesy to respond to my issues in over three days.

I never had an issue with SWREG downloads until this most recent time, when I bought the 2 new UP packs this past Saturday. I was experiencing the same thing, the download would run fine, full speed ahead, for only a little while, and then come to a grinding halt, never to budge again. I think I tried it 3 times that Sat afternoon, going about 6%, 14% and 58% before stalling. This was during the 12 pm to 6 pm time window. I waited until well into the evening hours (after 6 pm SWREG time) and both came down just fine without interruption. After I got to thinking of it, most of the times I have bought from SWREG have been late evening (after 9 pm ET). Sounds to me its an SWREG volume load or an SWREG diverting bandwidth elsewhere during normal 8 to 5 business hours or a SWREG telecom provider issue (construction issues during daylight hours on the fiber network?).

Had the same thing with the UP fruit Express Set. Would download about 50%, then freeze. Took about an hour before it finally downloaded at one shot. Believe it may be server overload on SWERGs end, as this has been going on now since Cyber Monday with them.

I had major issues with SWREG too several weeks ago when I bought Seligman 2.0 and the BNSF Scenic Loco upgrade pack. Same thing everyone here mentioned: high speed download for awhile then it just stops. It took many tries of pausing/resuming the download, and cancelling and restarting all-over once (plus a bit of luck) to get the large Seligman 2.0 download to finish.

My email record shows it was November 1 when I purchased those two add-ons, so it was well before any sort of holiday bandwidth surge.

          Update,

It has been over 5 days since I tried to purchase the Seligman 2.0 route from Streamlines.

I have filled out 4 Streamline support tickets, contacted SWREG 3 times, sent an email to the Corporate email address of Streamlines, and posted this thread hoping that Streamlines would respond.

I have had no response at all. I am still not blaming anyone for the issue. I just think it is rude not to have the courtesy of a reply when they have my money.

I had this same issue in the past, changed to Firefox as was suggested by Streamlines and since then every download has been flawless. I just downloaded the AC4400 pack this past weekend with no issue at all, about 3 minutes from start to instal.

Another reason that is possible, if most of these people are with a provider that is nationwide, it sounds like an update has gone awry like they will. Like when a Microsoft update disturbs the balance of MSTS, these updates from service providers can wreak havoc on us mere mortals. Particularly since most said the download started then fizzled out.

The other browsers are free and instal in seconds. Maybe that is all that is needed in most of these cases. I can only relate from what I have experienced, but Firefox worked for me, I was using MSN. If they don't work then just uninstal it.

I am currently trying to download the Amtrak F40PH set, and it got to 26% of the download then stopped. I x'ed out the download and clicked the download link again and now the connection keeps timing out so I can't even start the download. Very frustrating!

Now that I have tried several times without success to download the Amtrak F40PH set, when I click the download link I am getting the message:

                "An Error Has Occurred"
"You have no more download attempts. Please visit www.cardquery.com for assistance."

I wrote a message on cardquery about a half hour ago and no response yet. I do not know what the problem is. I am using Firefox, with downloads enabled and everything, with a 3mbps connection. Never had a problem before this. The furthest my download got was 52% before stopping completely.

I had the same problem downloading the UP MOW set--download would begin then time out. After several tries, I got the "exceeded number of download attempts" message. I contacted SWREG and received a return e-mail that said my download had a "one-time" reinstatement of download privileges to download the file. I then was able to download the file with no problem. From what I can ascertain, it WAS NOT an ISP problem on my end, it was something on their end. I would keep after them if you haven't been able to download what you paid for. This is the first time that I've had this issue with Streamlines.

                    Update #2,

I was finally contacted by Streamlines last last evening. Unfortunately, I am still unable to download the product. For peoples information, I use Firefox as my browser. I did try the downloads on IE Explorer and Chrome. No luck on any. I had all my security settings turned off, and I do not use "Zone Alarm". I also have a rather large collection of other Payware items for both MSTS, and Flight Sim 9, and have never had a download issue like this. Anytime I had a question or contacted other vendors, I was responded to within a day.

I want folks to know that Streamlines provides a quality product. I have all of their routes as well as a large number of their other addons. There was never an issue about the quality of their product.

My issue and frustration was how long it took to receive any response for the issue at hand. I expressed to Streamlines that since they are a Payware vendor, they need to monitor their support section more so that people who have issues, don't have to wait for days.

To conclude this update, I have requested that Streamlines just refund my payment. I hope that the others who have issues with obtaining their products, do not have to become as frustrated as I did, over the lack of support. I now consider this issue closed!

I wish you all a Happy Holiday Season,

How exactly is a download problem Streamlines fault? Or better yet, how can you expect them to fix their 3rd party download service?
Has it not been clearly said a million times that SLI uploads its content to SWREG therefor they zero control over SWREG's servers, connection and downtime?

This is like asking for Ford to come out and solve a derailment problem that's keeping your car from being delivered on time. Call the shipper, not the manufacturer.

That still does not excuse them from failing to answer his inquires in a timely basis.

I'm having a problem downloading four purchases I made yesterday evening. Not one has completed downloading. The Scenic 2.0 got to 350mb out of 351mb and quit. But it posed itself as a finished download. When you attempt to run the .exe it contains "invalid data." I think it's safe to say Streamlines needs to put a disclaimer or warning on it's website about it's distributor. I'm sure they won't have a problem extracting funds from my bank account, so why should I, and many others, have so much hassle with being able to use the products we purchase?

There also seems to be a puzzling, almost disturbing line of thinking around here that you should never criticize a payware developer, for anything. Even constructive or helpful criticism is met with, "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T BUY IT THEN!!!!!!!" The problem is that I do like it and I will buy it, I just don't like waiting for it and I shouldn't have to. Might be time for SL to find a better host or distributor.

I am constantly downloading files from multiple sources and vendors--both for my personal use and business use. In the past 3 months, the ONLY problem that I've had was with the SWREG file from Streamlines--and that occurred multiple times before it finally worked. I checked my computer settings, checked the download speed of my ISP--all of that--before and after I had the SWREG problem--it hasn't changed--everything is working fine.

The fact that multiple people, likely from all over the world, are complaining about the same problem with the same download service downloading the same products from the same vendor indicates to me that the issue is not on the customer end. The chance that all of those customers have the same "defective" computer settings, are using the same ISP, etc. are extremely small.

I'm going to chime in here also. I just purchased the SLI UPFE set via pre Christmas sale. Got my link from SWREG within a minute, but as all others have been stating; the download bombed out before completing! I have Comcast Broadband, and usually a download of this size (28.6 mb) usually takes a minute or so to complete. I will try again later hoping to have better success. I had an issue with SWREG just a few weeks ago, so this is two in less than a month!!!
