SLI UP pack for Feather River.

Well all the SLI detractors will probably have a field day on this but IMO (always worth listening to IMO) it's a really interesting pack?

Before you all cry "...but it's full of models from other packs" I'd like to point out that I own a few of SLI's UP loco packs already too.

    So why is it interesting?

Well firstly it bundles together UP loco's correct for its "era".

Secondly there are some new freight cars here from that era which have not been done to current standards.

Thirdly it's got some additional activities for the route for both MSTS AND OR!

A huge plus for me is that it represents a turn away from the (frankly boring ...IMO) Gevo and looks back to an era when traction was more diverse, traffic also more varied and ...and this is a BIG plus for some on these threads? Cabooses!!

In view of the complaints about lack of cabooses (ok freeware) I was looking at the bay window type and found pictures of the "Keep on Truckin'" Logo'd UP bay window cabooses. Et Voila!!! They're in this pack.

The other thing that impresses me is that it ticks another box. The one I keep banging on about ...and that's doing something to enhance an existing MSTS already acclaimed add-on?

Top marks SLI in my book.

For $25 it's worth buying. There are some freight cars that are in other sets, but what's new makes it worth buying.

I thought we were suppose to be getting new stuff for Sherman hill NOT Feather river. I just cant see spending 25 bucks for a few new cars. As to engines, it,s the same ole same ole.....how many SD40-2s do we need? How about something new we DONT have.

You don't want it? Don't buy it! Doesn't mean everyone else wants the same as you now does it?

Did you think of it being released WHEN the route is completed ?!

                  Honestly, I beg to differ.

I'm old enough to remember when DD-40's were all over the place between Cheyenne and Laramie and again in the mid 80's when they ran for a short period of time.

SD40-2 along with C30-7's were common over the hill. Ditto for Widevision and bay window cabooses and the freight cars.

This SLI set would be proper to run on the Sherman Hill route.

And as stated, the set is not everybody's cup of tea.

Members views should be respected. The thread SHOULD NOT turn into a flame war with people trying to get members to buy the set or not buy it.

Actually I am getting this pack if anything for the SD40 I can finally see some early B&O WM C&O SD40 not mention few other railroads as well.

The new cars are a plus for me. now if we can get SLI to create some 40 FT Box cars, and some U Boats i'll be happy!

Have to agree MsSheare, some U boats would be great.

Re the double ups, it is annoying buying something like this and getting locos and stock from a set you've already bought. I don't mind if the shapes are duplicates, so long as it has different textures.

McSheare, If you want 40" boxcars then you need to check out Elvastower.com. I don't think it is proper for SLI to include rolling stock from other packs especially if they have the same .wag name. They have done that with a few items in the past. I would like to know how many of these items are completly new and not just a repaint of existing pieces. I don't mind paying money where a lot of time has been spent on making a new piece, but am not all that willing to buy just to get a repaint that I may not even need!

As for the activities, I can make my own.

I'am a payware collector , so I must obtain this set. Because you never know when something might become extinct in the world of msts.

I have purchased this set and yes there are 12 cars that have appeared in other sets but in this pack they have DDS textures for the first time, but there are a hell of a lot of new cars over 40 in the pack some very nice units that make it more than worth the price, the 2 straight SD40 engines are new plus SD40-2s in the earlier paints.
