I can not get MSTS Route Creator to run. Keep getting resolution must be set to 1024 or greater which my display settings are set above this. I have Win10 OS. Any suggestions. Is there a free decent creator. I have TSRE5 route designer but cannot add/modify tracks or tilt objects in that program.

TSRE5 does allow you to do what you say you cannot do. On the main page of the website scroll down to the part that deals with the manual, whilst not complete, there is enough there to get you going. I suggest printing each section for easier reference.Beer is not a matter of life or death, it is much more serious than that.

What are your PC specs, OP. There's a few bits *not* covered on the Steam4me site which badly needs updating, where it comes to Windows 10. For example, MSTS will not run if you have an ATI/AMD graphics card without applying a fix and if using integrated graphics you may get uncertain results, too. On the desktop shortcut, make sure under Properties/Compatibility you are running as for Win XP and you will probably need the "Disable Display Scaling..." box otherwise if you get in the sim, you probably won't be able to navigate. And most important, the programme must be installed as and run as Administrator.
There is an Editor resizing utility in one of the MSTS basic packs from UKTS, but I generally find I have to run this each time before starting the editor. Even going into the registry and making the changes detailed at Steam4Me don't apply a permanent fix - next time the PC restarts the registry has gone back to the default values.
If all else fails you can always try TANE or TS2017 which at least run seamlessly on modern hardware/operating systems!Vern.

Thanks for advice. Will try this. Only way I can run MSTS and modify my routes, etc is to not install it in default root path. Installing it to a folder I created in my documents, allows me to switch everything to read/write mode. It appears Win 10 does not like people people to mess with default programs installed in default program install locations.

But there's more to it than just that; the instructions at Steam4Me for Windows 7 and similar modern Windows versions has everything you need to know in one spot.
Installing MSTS into your "My Documents" or "Documents" folder isn't the most popular place; most people just make a new folder to hold it on the root level of their hard drive. That's mostly to avoid any potential problems with long file paths -- anything in your Documents folder is already three folders deep and then MSTS will be one or two more folders below that (C:\Users\<Your Name>\Documents\MSTS\Train Simulator\Train.exe + other files and folders...) and the necessary files that define routes and rolling stock can be two or three more folders down. Because the whole path to a file is part of it's "name" during file read/write operations, it's not impossible to hit file name "length" problems. If you ever do, then it's better to install MSTS in it's own folder like C:\MSTS.MSTS-Roundhouse (Technical Difficulties, Please Stand By)
