    Hi Eric,
I would assume that coal.ace was copied from the tender file into the loco file !

This member seems very reluctant to share information - it appears to be a general trait amongst younger people these days!!

    Cheers,
    Ged

    Hi,
Although the loco was uploaded in 2009, it appears that it was actually created in 2007, but the tender wasn't created until 2009. It's not likely that you'll get any sort of answer to your question so you'll just have to accept it You'll very likely come across similar problems with other old stock, but it's all part of our hobby to fix things which are wrong. If you really want 'plug & play' you'd be better to steer clear of MSTS/Open Rails and go for something like Train Simulator 20xx or TSW!!

    Cheers,
    Ged

Plus, why would they not add the coal.ace in the loco folder? They need to literally make the model right to make people download it and stuff

    Hi,
I managed to dig this loco up from the depths of my archives!!
The loco shape file requires coal.ace (for a very small part!), but it's not in the loco's folder.
I suggest you copy (NOT move!) file coal.ace from the 3415Tender folder into the ATSF3415 folder.

You might also find that the .cvf (cabview) file calls for a file named water.ace but it's not in the Cabview folder. I suggest that you make a copy of file m-water.ace (in the cabview folder) and name it as water.ace. I say 'might' because MSTS doesn't usually complain about texture files missing from a cabview!

I appreciate that you're a newcomer to MSTS, but what many of us like about it is that, quite often, you have to "get your hands dirty" to make things work

    Cheers,
    Ged

There is this error saying that it fails to open a texture file in the locomotive in coal.ace

That's a Mophouse model... make sure the folder structure is correct -- both the locomotive and tender folders need to be in the Trainset folder, not the Abilene Steam folder. coal.ace should be in your tender folder.

Be careful with which website you're on -- there's a world of difference between "digitalrails.com" and that other site.

Frank Burns would go ballistic if he were still alive and found his content there.

I don't think anyone will go and look at this, but there is something wrong with the ATSF 3415 model released by digital rails. When I try to run this error, MSTS can't find the missing coal.ace file. When I try to continue, I get another error saying: Failed to create cabview even though the CVF file is there. Someone please help me out on this
