I have the same problem:
http://www.trainsim.com turns up a blank page with the correct favicon.
https://www.flightsim.com works. To get to the forum I had to manually enter https://www.trainsim.com/vbts.
Nels-Could this have anything to do with what has happened with RailPictures.net's hosting provider?
Quoting RP's homepage:
Ongoing Server & DNS Issues
At approximately 6pm (Eastern Time) yesterday, one of the datacenters at our hosting provider suffered a large explosion, which took out 3 walls, and subsequent fire. Most importantly, noone was injured.
Fortunately, the RailPictures.Net servers reside in the other, unaffected datacenter, and they continue to operate normally. Unfortunately, our hosting provider's DNS (domain name) servers reside in the affected datacenter, so there are intermittent problems connecting to the RailPictures.Net website since browsers are unable to resolve the domain names to point to the correct server.
We expect this situation to be resolved by this evening. Thank you for your understanding!

Here is a recent post from Proboards; sounds like it may be awhile...
"As the new servers are in a different physical location, a DNS change was necessary. Some ISP's and computers can cache this old DNS information for longer than they should.
If the server is showing on the status page as online, but you still get the "page cannot be displayed" error, you have been affected by this, and must wait for your internet providers cache to update with the new location.
In some cases restarting your computer can help if it is only your machine which issuing outdated information.
If this does not help, unfortunately you will need to wait for this update to happen. "

You had to wait for DNS replication - If you were on a server affected by the electrical fire the host was moved that took some time - that was to a physically different site as I understand it - then, so your PC could find it, you had to wait for the DNS tables to update (replicate to be precise) in your part of the world - us geeks tell the unwashed that takes up to 48 hours depending where you are in the DNS system in relationship to the new host...

Withdrawal symptoms!
Train-Sim link was causing random loading problems Saturday. The Flight Sim forum link was working OK until Sunday afternoon when it also went down.
As the browser is set to delete all information upon exit, I don't have the carryover cashing between sessions.
Whatever problems were occurring over the weekend appear to be resolved at this time.

Houston, We Had A Problem...
I'm sure many have noticed the site has been unavailable. Apparently the facility where most of our servers are hosted (which just happens to be in Houston) had a transformer explosion and fire which knocked out the facility, shutting down some 9000 web servers including ours. Our actual servers were not damaged but power and the connection to the rest of the world was shut off. It appears that things have been fixed and are back to normal again. Usually we have enough duplicate resources so that you won't even notice minor problems that we have from time to time, but something this major is hard to work around.
I suspect the other sites you saw unavailable this weekend were also being affected by this.

Perhaps this was a good thing. Not only was trainsim.com down, but so was the mophouse, and my website, friscorr.com. During the withdrawal, i went to this place called the outside. Seriously, Saturday night, I went to two bonfires, a bd party for a friend, watched the Sun rise with my wife, had breakfast with my parents, celebrated another BD on Sunday, and roadtripped to a castle in Lindsborg, KS. I also went to McPherson, for V3 of the Mopac001 route, and saw a couple of 38's and some CF7's at the old ATSF depot. Pics soon to follow. I'm somewhat interested in what others did during their withdrawal.
