    AEM-7/P40/P42 File not found/read

    First post .

I just downloaded NECPAK01 and the patch NECPAK14, but every time I start MSTS (or return from an activity), it keeps saying it hasn't found certain AEM-7, P40, P42 files, and Amfleet files, sometimes thereafter the game crashes. I checked the files in which they were installed. I found .eng files but none of which were in the error messages.

I've had this same problem but with other trains when I installed certain activities, I usually found the consist in the CONSISTS folder and deleted them, and the error messages disappeared. Here though, I delete them and the error messages still appear!

How can I get this fixed/removed?

    Random notes:
I re-installed NECPAK01 and I found some uninstall files installed in the TRAINS folder. I don't know if these will help, since I'm not using the computer that has them installed, but what do you think?

After I read the "ASKING FOR HELP" sticky, I read about database files with deleting certain files and well, I haven't deleted anything, I'm guessing the files didn't come with the Pack's for some reason .

    The text says something like;
    Error reading database file:
    C:Train Simulator/Trains/Trainset/Aem-7.905.eng
along with a bunch of other messages regarding other Aem-7, P40, P42, and some Amfleet files. I never found them inside the files when I had installed the megapack.

The 905 in the error message is all I remember, I checked the file and I found things like "Aem-7.967" and another file that wasn't 905.

Since I've just lost the computer that has MSTS to my brother, I should be editing this post soon as soon as I can get it back, and I'll be posting screenshots very, very soon .

    Gidday Ryan,

    Welcome to our world.

    >Error reading database file:
    >C:Train Simulator/Trains/Trainset/Aem-7.905.eng

This error indicates an activity or consist is calling for the above unit and it does not exist in the location indicated.

    Download Route Riter from http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trai...ter/index.html
    and check your activities.

There is in the library, a tool so old that most have forgotten all about it. It predates the swiss army knife for MSTS. The filename is rc-lite.zip.

Old it may be, but is easy to use. It will locate those troublesome consists that give you the database errors and move them into a holding folder for you to deal with while allowing MSTS to continue running.

This was the "Report" of the Route Control program that looked like it could really help, but this is the page I'm trying to view after it's done . So I decided to re-install MSTS, if it isn't fixed, I'll try those programs again (Still trying to learn Route Riter ) :P.

Do not reinstall,it will not solve this problem but may give you even worse problems. The answer to your problem has already been given so why not search your consists for the offending item. This proves again that you should NEVER install new locos/stock directly to MSTS but to a temporary folder;examine it,install only the eng/wag files, test them with a suitable short activity and if you must, then install the consists too.I personally NEVER install consists supplied with any download.

Un(Re)-installation didn't work, I DID eventually find those sassy files (), and the messages DID disappear. Route Riter worked, thanks !
