    "Lightning-fast boarding"

In this activity I'm designing, I run a long train stopping at some stations. When I stop to the stations and press ENTER to start loading.

My problem is that when I press ENTER, the timer seems to start for a split second, then the notice "Press ENTER to load/unload" appears all over again, then loading time stops, with the Next Station Driving Aid showing my actual depart time the exact same as my arrival time.

    Easier explanation:
Say I pressed ENTER to load/unload at a station specifically 12:05:57, the arrival time would say that time. This glitch also makes me somehow depart as soon as loading time starts, making the actual depart time also 12:05:57.

My brakes are still on and I wait a second or two before I press enter, guaranteeing that I am completely stopped and anchored to where my train is positioned next to the platform.
    • This problem only happens to me on the Innsbruck-St. Anton line
    • Occurred after changing the # of passengers on every station stop platform
    • Happens when I run P42's in atveatsp.zip with a long superliner train.
    • When I run on other routes and stop at stations, all load/unload times and procedures are normal with no glitches.

I think that you may find that the length of a Station stop is partly governed buy the number of passengers.

      Hi

the passenger loading feature is in principle governed by two important elements:
      - First there is a need for defining a PassengerCapacity ( x ) line in the .wag (and depending on your needs also the .eng) files of your equipment, and
      - Second, there needs to be an interactive platform marker in the route which has its properties set in a way that allows passenger boarding.

If these two citeria are met, then the loading/unloading feature will work in activities as soon as a carriage (or locomotive) with PassengerCapacity ( x ) line is aligned precisely with the platform marker.

Your problem made me immediately think along the same line of thought as Ron in the post above. If the number of passengers waiting to board is set to 0, then the loading will be immediate: Boarding is completed
      a) once you stop along the platform and press enter,
      b) or as soon as your train passes the far end of the platform (no need even to stop the train and press enter).
Could it be that you changed the number of passengers waiting to 0?

Side remark: I deliberately use this constellation sometimes in activities created for my own pleasure by first adding a passenger capacity line to my freight engines, setting the platform passenger number to 0 and then running my freight train on a time-table that gets automatically ticked-off whenever I pass a platform.

Another thing to check, but that would require a session in the RE (so back up the route's .rdb, .rit, .tdb, .tit files and its World folder before messing with it). Navigate to the platform in question in RE and have a look at the green line with the two arrows. That is your interactive platform marker. Is the line just a straight line, or does it zig-zag towards the platform? Select any of the two green pyramids at the end of this line with your mouse and right-click it. A properties window will open up. Here, pay attention to the following three things:
      1) make sure that the box next to "disable this platform by default" is unticked,
      2) adjust the number of passengers waiting by default from 0 to any positive number (the higher the number the longer the wait), and/or adjust the minimum waiting time from 0,
      3) verify that the appropriate box for the platform orientation (left or right) is ticked.

The latter setting was meant to have the passenger doors open on the correct side of your train, a feature which was left unimplemented in the official MSTS release. To my knowledge no-one ever tested it, but I could imagine that if none of the two was ticked, the platform might not work correctly.

Just a few thoughts... Hope that helps!
      Cheers, Lukas
