    (Insert railroad) 2-8-0

Ello everybody, I was painting this consolidation into a more prototypical paint job when I realized..............I had no idea for a railroad that would use this design. I would most grateful for ideas.

I'm still working on the SD50, but before I ask for permission to release it, I'm gonna take a sledge hammer and knock in some deatils.

    Cheers,

    Maine Central had some 2-8-0's..
501 to 509 were produced in 1910, 36600 Traction Force Pounds; Weight total engine - 193000 and tender - 140000 with a wheel base of 57'6"
510 to 516 were produced in 1912, 37000 Traction Force Pounds; Weight total engine - 198000 and tender - 136000(for 510 only, the rest were 136100) and the wheel base was 56' 8".

These above, would be a good stand in for them

by the way, either style is fine. They used the simple Gold Lettering.. shown here

And the logo, shown here (on a 2-8-2)

Either will fit for my time line of the Mountain Division.

Nice to see Cliff's old Consol out again! I was just running one earlier today on the LSRC. NP, if you could get permission to release this, I'd say release it as a reskinner's kit. I know there are quite a few projects I have that I could use this for.

IIRC, SP had some of those, however, its been a very long time since I last researched SP in the steam era. The SP I know best is the 1960s to 2000s.

Thanks everyone! Yeah I might do the kit thing.

Now while the SP did have a ton of 2-8-0's, few (if any) had this type of valve gear. And for MEC, it might need a cow catcher grill FA to look right. But I have a small question: what did Cliff model the engine for originally, and how do I contact him?

consol.zip in the F/L, originally skinned for EIRE RR.

This Consolidation was based on an Illinois Central design. It's a close match to the IC 790 at Steamtown. Check the readmes, they should have his contact info.

Well looking in the readme it says and I quote: "You may repaint and release this locomotive and tender as freeware with proper credit. No commercial
use of the model or textures permitted without premission of the author."

So I'm thinking that means I can release this repaint here (ACE files only, and the possible MEC paint job) as long as I give credit to him on the model? Correct if I'm wrong, but thats what it sounds like.

Ace files only, why? is the original model payware so you need to exclude the .s file and everything else?

Well, um, do I need to ask his permission? Because I usally see that in a readme and I don't in his, and he says to just give him credit (but I sent him a message just to be safe).

Plus this would be a reskiners kit, anyone of the repaints I released from this model would include shape and eng stuff i.e. the MEC/B&M/IC 2-8-0's..................oh is that a cat coming from that paper bag.

Well if he is asking for credit, which many of us do as it becomes to much to read every email for those using out stock, then you are safe.

As longs as credit is given, and as longs as it's not payware, then everything can be included, unless the readme states otherwise, but if it doesn't, you are good.

Shawn is correct: his readme gives you permission to release repaints of the model including the shape file and everything else -- just give him full credit in your read-me and the ID.diz file that is used for the file description on trainsim.com.

                          Upload tonight

Most likely will upload tonight, but just to make sure my new fictional company (Modeling the 40's and replaces the K&C idea) got the engine first..................................

I'm planning on repainting one of these, but I'm rather confused as to which .ace files I have to put the number on. Is con03.ace the numberboard and con08.ace where I put the number below the window?

con06.ace has the number board and headlight numbers and con08.ace is the cab.
