How can i repaint if loco as dds texture

    Exactly... Think of DDS like a PDF. Best for your final revision... but not your *working* copy.

    Here is a little more info on the .dds format and it's uses.

    As Pete mentioned above, work on your textures as a .tga or a .bmp and only save as a .dds.

    The loss of quality is barely perceptible.
    depends on the capacity of the video card.
    By the way the colleague ... is msts / open rails .
    so it won't make much difference.

    Caveat. DDS is a lossy format... so actually EDITING a DDS file tends to lose pixel data. DDS files use 'lossy' compression which means that you will lose detail and color information compared to your original texture.

    You should be able to open the coresponding shape with Shape Viewer and export the individual .dds textures as .tga files. Do whatever modifications you need to then re-export the .tga to an .ace file with alpha and or DXT1 compression to preserve the transparency using TGA Tool.
