    Alp 46 Help

I've been having problems with the ALP 46 locomotor it wont couple with any other locomotives nor passenger/freight cars can anyone tell me why because ive seen some videos on youtube where the train is coupled with rail cars

Being based on a European Model, it has "Chain" couplings...they need to be manually changed to "Automatic" to couple to North American stock.

Did you open the .Eng File and verify that it has "Automatic" Couplers?

Which ALP-46 have you downloaded? alp-46.zip by Robert Thompson or njalp46.zip by Kurt Kaminer - KLW ?

Using the alp-46.zip by Robert Thompson is not recommended. The items in that package are of questionable origin (including cab view and sounds that appear to have been lifted from other sources without giving credit, which leads one to suspect they're not used with permission), and the model is known to have problems. Note that the author left no contact information, which would be the first thing you should do if you were having trouble: contact the author. Since the "author" is not considered a reputable source, I, for one, won't touch his work, or participate in fixing it. He put the junk out there, he should stand behind it.

The njalp46.zip by Kurt Kaminer - KLW, while it has the European style buffers, which I'd agree detract from the appearance, is from a reputable model builder, and I would recommend using this model instead of the other one.

At one point, Kurt was helping Chuck Schneider (of NALW) to produce an updated ALP-46 model with correct US style pilot and couplers, etc. but that project appears to have gone dormant since Kurt seems to have departed the MSTS scene for now.

You probably saw Trainutjob's video, and there's a simple process - open the eng file using notepad or something and change the coupler type (it should be indicated very clearly)

Yep Kurt has our model and was finishing the cab and packaging it - and then he got "beamed up"

More like "assimilated into the collective" I think - "resistance is futile!"

I know in the last time I traded notes with him, he had been very busy with school, and I'm betting he probably got a real job.

Hey Guys. Haven't been on here much lately with alot of other stuff going on, but I'm easing my way back into things. I was the one who took most of the prototype photos for him and other data....
Last I heard form Kurt was several months ago after I sent him a huge number of hi-res ALP46 cab photos was he was very, very busy with school as Steve had mentioned...
Steve and Chuck, I still have all the photos and info along with daily access to the real thing every day incase either of you two feel the urge to take it over... I really don't want to share them with the piraters out there though, so those of you who know who you are don't even ask...
