    A real oddball EMD

Hi, just getting started on my most recent project, I'm doing EMDX GM-10B demonstrator #1976. If you know of any side/end/top drawings or photos of this unit I would be greatful if you can supply me with any. Also do you know of any websites that have free recordings of electric locomotives, or better yet some recordings of the specific unit I'm doing.

    Thanx, Greg.

PS: here's a photo of the unit in question.

Good luck finding them. A friend of mine who is very enamoured with GM's electrical units hasn't had any luck, and he's been very thoroughly searching all of the usual channels (and many of the lesser-known ones) for the better part of 4 years with no luck.

Your best bet is to get a good broadside of the loco (there are a couple out there), and knowing certain key dimensions (like the driving wheels being 50 inches in diameter) extrapolating that to do a complete drawing of your own.

That thing brings a whole new definition to the term "ugly"...

Looks very similar to the template they have of GM6C at paintshop.railfan.net, if that's any help, which I doubt.

IIRC, drawings of both of this and the contemporary GM6C were published in Railroad Model Craftsman in the late-'70s or early-'80s. There is a searchable index of quite a few hobby magazines at trains.com, which shold be able to tell you which issue it was. -Phil

The July 1976 Railroad Model Craftsman has drawings of the GM6C, but couldn't find anything on the GM10.

Here are some pics of the GM10B and GM6C at Railroad Photo Archives:

I think I have a copy of the RMC issue with the GM6C drawing. Let me know if you can use them

Frank, if you don't have it I definately do have the GM6C diagrams on my hard drive somewhere. Now, if only I had GM6F diagrams....
