A while back, Joseph(jovert) and I were discussing via email about how to deactivate the crossing sounds so the bell rings while the gate goes up or down, however I got to thinking, would this be for the entire route if I did this? I know in real life some crossings have the bell ringing for the entire time the gate is activated while some just have the bell on while the gate is going up or down.

Question...
Hi,
My question is similar to the main message of this thread:
Is that possible to make a interactive crossing without bell sound but allowing cars (carspawner) to stop ?
For example, a crossing with wood crossbucks (non-signaled by lights and gate) as in some industrial spurs or privates crossings...
If possible how to disable the sound without interfering with the others crossings of the route ?
Thanks !
Matt

To turn off the sound for a particular level crossing, change the first parameter of LevelCrData to 00000006 in the world file. See post https://www.trainsim.com/vbts/showth...16#post1176416
LevelCrData ( 00000006 1 )
In order for cars to resume crossing after the train has passed the crossing shape must have an animation. The default cross bucks, US2CrossingSign.s, does not have an animation resulting in stuck traffic. Corrected crossing shapes are in the file library.

Todd,
Yes, if you modify the crossings.sms file then that will affect all interactive railroad crossings on the route. There is no way to customize the behavior of the sounds per-crossing short of turning them off on each LeveCr object as krausyao points out.
When I want a "custom" crossing I just turn all the LevelCr sounds off and place a static sound source that I setup.
