How can I disconnect the bell from sounding when horn is sounded. This is for the default trains. I just want the bell
and horn independent. I have looked through the forums and most probably missed this issue. Thanks for any help.
Go into the .ENG file of the engine you wish to modify, and open it up in wordpad so it can be edited.
Look for the line " DoesHornTriggerBell( 1 ) " or something similar towards the bottom third of the .ENG file.
The ( 1 ) means the bell will come on when you toot the horn. Changing the 1 to a 0 will disable that feature, and you will have seperate control of the whistle/bell.

Thanks SurlyKnuckle! Thats been a minor irritant for me seems forever and just never thought to chase up a fix if available. Not
big on using the horn - might alarm the neighbours.
Bells and horns et al can also be assigned to different keys. This happens on my GE 35 Ton soundset, as 'B' starts up and shuts off the engine, and 'V' triggers the bell. I tried to move the engine start/stop to 'V' or other keys, and doesn't react to the engine speed curve quite the same. And I suppose in the 'Options' of MSTS one can reassign the bell to 'K' or whatever they like. Though for my fooling with this, it didn't seem to work so good?
