    Creating horns

    Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me the step by step procedure to create a loco horn (in .wav format) from a sound recording??Please explain as soon as possible.
    Thank you.

It is and isn't easy to start you off. You first need a good sound editor program such as Goldwave, Audacity, etc. Once installed, open your horn wav and convert it to a lower Khz range (preferably 11hz). You'll then want to convert the stereo recording to Mono for the Eng/Ext view (which isn't mandatory, but may keep MSTS from stress and crashes). Once all that's done, then comes 'looping'. You'll need to set a marker point somewhere within the middle of the Wav display, and another further down from it.
This will be the area that 'sustains' when you hold the space bar for a long period. And depending on the horn, this can be a long and frustrating process, as you try to find and iron out a 'constant tone' that doesn't fluctuate and/or have nasty clicks when it repeats. And once that's done, you'll want to put in more markers in between to improve 'short toot' accuracy. And this is all if you're dealing with a pristine recording to begin with. If something ripped from YouTube or a DVD, you need to really get knowledgeable on aspects of audio engineering in order to salvage and condition them for a pleasant MSTS experience. Most audio editors free to expensive are equipped and capable, you just have to know what to look for and how to use it.
