    MC Freight Issue

On a whim, I randomly made a consist one day and gave it a test run. Normally, I would hear Matt Florack's freight car sounds emitting from the coal hoppers and caboose, but I hear nothing right now. All of my sound sliders are set to maximum and I used the override feature that came with the soundset. Interestingly, this and another set of coal hoppers seem to be the only cars whose sounds aren't working. Can anyone help me with this?

What Sound() statement is the problem stock using?

      Sound ( "GenFreightWag1.sms" )
I think it's the GenFreightWag1 file that's acting oddly. The default gondolas don't work either and they use GenFreightWag1. The .sms file looks just fine. What could be wrong with it?

Are there any wagons that have working sounds with Sound( "GenFreightWag1.sms" )?

If all wagons with GenFreightWag1.sms are affected, check the global SOUND directory to see if the .wav files called by the .sms are in that directory.

The said .sms file uses the same sounds as the other three GenFreightWag .sms files and the others work. It's just that this one .sms file won't work for some reason.

Since the MC_Freight genfreight1wag.sms is the same enough as the MC_Freight genfreightwag3.sms, you can copy genfrieghtwag3.sms somewhere, rename it to genfreightwag1.sms and copy that into the global SOUND folder and overwrite.
            See if that works.

That sounded like a great idea, but the sounds still don't work.

Duustin, can you post a copy of your genfreightwag1.sms here and let one of us try it on our install?

I think it has to be zipped and added as an attachment. Here is a copy of mine, try it you have nothing to lose.

Your file didn't work for me. I don't know what the problem is. Here's the original file.genfreightwag1original.zip

If that copy of the file didn't work for you, you have a problem other then the .sms file.

On one of the affected wagons, change the Sound("GenFreightWag1.sms") to Sound("GenFreightWag3.sms"), make a small consist up with a bunch of those wagons, see if it makes any noise.
If you get noise then a .sms is bad somehow.
If you do not get noise, your .wag files are bad somehow.

Something must be wrong with the .wag files, I guess. Let me look at them.
