Is it possible to increase the external ambient sound of the coaling operation? Increasing the sound file volume appears to have little effect and there are no volume control parameters in the CTower SMS file. Thank you.

RE: Making coaling sounds louder...?
You'll first need to locate where your sound source is by using the name of the wav file in your SMS. Backup your sound first, and then use a sound editor such as goldwave (free demo) http://www.goldwave.com to increase the volume of the a sound by a percentage. A guide to how to use goldwave in processing sounds for MSTS is located at http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/...esound_01.html
Experimentation is the key. Change a few variables and see what results you come up with, but for a start follow Chuck's parameters in his tutorial. Even though it is for horn sounds, the basic principles are the same.

RE: Making coaling sounds louder...?
Thanks mate, that site's known to me and is an excellent TS resource. I checked out the great sound tutorial but apart from educating me on all the other aspects it didn't have a fix for my problem. I've tried increasing the volume of the sound effect, but it's still difficult to hear it in the sim. My sound system is good and I've got all of TS's sound options maxed.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll put on my thinking cap..........
