    wag triggers 3 and 4

Can somebody please tell me what triggers 3 and 4 are in wag files?

    Thanks for any assistance.

Not sure what you mean. I don't think .wag files use triggers at all.

Do you mean wag.sms files? If so, wag.sms files use Discrete_Triggers for coupling and uncoupling sounds (triggers 58-63), but I'm not sure if they use any others (at least for the default wag files). And variable triggers aren't numbered.

If you are referring to genfreightwag3.sms and genfreightwag4.sms, they are just vaiations on the default freight car sounds, and I'm not sure they are even used (I have deleted the default US freight stock, so I can't check).

Does that cover it, or did I miss your point altogether??

RE: wag triggers 3 and 4

Jeff, thanks for trying to answer my confusingly worded question. I am of course referring to the sms file for wag files. I am aware of the discrete triggers 58-63 for uncoupling. My query arose after reading an sms file for a wag file that included "disable trigger 3" and "disable trigger 4". I am not aware of such discrete trigger numbers. On thinking a little more about it I wondered also whether they were referring to the third and fourth trigger in the stream, but I dismissed this idea since the trigger events are not sequentially numbered within the stream. So I am still at a loss as to what this instruction was actually doing.

Actually, you are correct that the disable command refers to the sequence they are in within the stream, even though they are not numbered. Thus, disable trigger 3 diables the third one down from the start of the stream.

Thanks again Jeff. That's been very useful. I'm aware that there has been discussion here about the disabling process. I think I had better now follow it up.

          Cheers.

I don't know if you're aware of this tutorial? Maybe it can be of any use to you.

            Regards,
            Richard.

Yes Richard, I do have it, but I did not pick up anything from there that clarified the disabling function. Thanks for the suggestion though.

                Alright,

And you used the sound interface as well?

                  Richard asked:

Now that one I didn't have. I have just downloaded it and will take a look at the interface program. Thanks for the tip.
