First of all, sorry all for being gone for so long! Now the reason why was because I had issues with my old computer, and I was just recently able to upgrade. I'm finally getting around to modeling again. This project is NOT dead and I am really wanting to finish it. So, enjoy these few screens of work around Ozark I've been messing with for the past week.

Jerry,
Thanks for the information on the DEMs, that'll come in handy when I expand to the other 3 subdivisions. Also, it is always great to hear stories from railroaders (the Southern is one of my favorites). I'm glad it brings back good memories. I don't think I've really read or heard a bad thing about the Frisco or the folks that kept her running, maybe that is why the railroad is held so near and dear to the hearts of her ex-employees and fans. I know nobody was happy the day BN took over.

Cade,
If you find reliable DEMs that will work with DEMEX or whatever your extraction tool is,
then my recommendation is to fill a DVD or two with all the DEMs you think you will
ever need. Reason is that the USGS seems to like to change formats on a whim and
a few years back I thought my days were done -- until I discovered VTBuilder. I
needed a DEM module yesterday to expand a future route a little as well as do the
DM terrain. So, I found what I needed in GeoTiff format, but this format from the
USGS won't work with DEMEX. So, run it through VTBuilder and create a new
GeoTiff file that works.
As for the route, it brings back pleasant memories of getting to know some fine
people, finest railroaders I've met up to that time. (1971) In 71,72, & 73 I,
along with my operating crew and the Southern Geometry Car, R-1, were
leased to the Frisco for 10 days. The Chief Engineer was a buddy of our VP
on the SR and the roads did not compete so this was okay. We were treated
like royalty out there and tested 400 or more miles a day. I remember that
one one day, we left Memphis, tested to St. Louis, then to Springfield where
we tied up for the night. Then Springfield to Monett & south to Ft. Smith & back
which was a short day.

1/2 Update
First off, happy New Years everybody! I didn't realize it had been two months since my last update. The track work has been completed as I said before, but also the main road layout has now been completed. I have begun to scenerize the past week, beginning with the backdrop to the southern half of Springfield, Downtown. I have utilized many of Paul Charland's fabulous models along with other creators' buildings to create a realistic look. The Heers tower will be one model I will build myself, and I have many industries to use for practicing my modeling skills.

This will probably be my last update for a bit until I get some good scenery developments but the track layout is now complete.

10/28 Update
This week, I was able to lay track all the way to Monett. Next week, I am hoping to lay out all of Monett and the Mt. Vernon Branch. After that, track work will be done and I will be able to begin scenerizing the route.

Are you using Digital Elevation Models (DEM) on your route? If not, you will lack the prototype's terrain setting.
