Always nice to see you posting - all good.
I'm running a modified version of the LHR - I added DEM for Distant Mountains and many new tiles where the edges were visible from the track. I also expanded the tiles down to Hudson Yard - which has the most interesting geography on the whole route. I've tried laying track down there a few times - nothings been a keeper yet. I wish I could truly master laying track but I work on so many things in TS.
Someday there will be a new and improved LHR.
I'm learning Blender at the moment which I really like.
I thought of you the other day when I was messing around with Allen's absolutely gorgeous C420 in Blender - thinking how good it would look in a blue and off-white paint scheme.
Be well.

Thanks guys for your feedback.
I am considering an Activity Generator (AG) project for the L&HR_1940 route. Timeframe would be around 1952. The L&HR received their last RS-3 alcos in 1951. The first ones were delivered in 1950. The L&HR RS-3 total roster was, I believe to be 13 (or 14).
I can still work out the project, hoping to use all Maybrook yards without encountering this issue. That will be checked later. Since there are lot of different railroads, I intend to work out projects, involving not only the L&HR as player engines, but with other RR's, even if duration of such activities are short on their respective trackage. With the BLW/ZT Maybrook set, It will make it easier to consider. With Rick Franzosa's L&HR six engines in the F/L plus the three inside the BLW/ZT pack, the L&HR RS-3 count will be nine engines, quite good.
Time will tell...Last edited by dgionet; 01-14-2023, 18:30.

Hi Denis,
Sounds good - I've built the 80 class Mikado's, the 90 class Consolidations, and the 10 class Mountains for the LHR - I grew up a few miles from the track on Ridge Road (crossing modeled) where it crosses the LHR near Campbell Hall - I'm a fan. Rich made a great route.
Best of luck.

Scott

Hi,
In the first and 3rd screenshots, the DEM for a 4096m x 4096m tile has been jammed into one of the 2048m x 2048m subtiles that make up the bigger tile. This seems to be something ORTS is doing. I want to say its the lower right 2048m tile, when looking at this in the MSTS RGE, but it's been years since I coped with this issue.
The 3 tiles north of the CNE / NYNH&H engine terminal at Maybrook were installed in the L&HR route as 4096m x 4096m. Not sure what ORTS is using as the near terrain in the other 3 2048m x 2048m tiles, but yes, it covered the tracks back then also.
(The 1940 L&HR was merged into the Tristate Route with permission.)
The second screen grab, the DM terrain is higher than the close-up terrain, which is why the Great White void is visible. It's a function of the "view sphere" that removes DM terrain so it doesn't cover the near terrain. If you ran to the end of the track on the near terrain, you would see the DM terrain retreat.

Hi again
Have checked it out and I won't be able to work activities using the Maybrook EB Classification & Departure Yards. (See image using OR). Have checked the same area on TSRE5 and don't see anything abnormal (see TSRE image).
Unfortunately, I have no experience in route building. I can adjust siding lenghts, create sidings, rename them, mostly on the MSTS Route Editor. I did once or twice these functions on TSRE5. It is all I can do on a route. Is there a way to correct this terrain issue using TSRE5?
Thanks
Denis

Hi,
I don't know if TSRE will do a change from a 4096 tile to 4 2048's. A fix you could try in the MSTS RE is to lay a 100m or 200 m section of road along the tracks (JP2rd set has both), angle them or drag them so as not to displace too much terrain outside the tracks and hit the Y key while the road section is highlighted/wireframed. I think these yards were laid flat, IIRC, grades only beginning at the north end with the double track that went to the Poughkeepsie Bridge. Start in the middle and skate the road towards the edges, dragging it with the mouse across the yards. Be sure the cutting/filling width is not set too high. I would use 15 meters for the width, and 85 for both the cut and fill angles.
The reason for using the road section is it will not disrupt the TDB, which can affect the signals and other interactives that were placed out there if you were to click on the track, hit the Y key, and then save.
Doug
addenda: After two or 3 Y keys, I'd hit save route. Then re-select the road section, and drag it around some more as needed.Last edited by drelyea; 01-15-2023, 18:28.Making stuff that works, using outdated Software on outdated Hardware.sigpic
