Ok, I'll play ... one Rock Island, one C&O, one Erie-Lackawanna ... all from BLW/ZT sets. Good topic.

Chuck, the lighting on that first UP caboose couldn't be better.

Agree ...just as in real life MSTS does look better at each end of the day when the lighting gives better relief to textures and scenery ...BUT I just hate the unnaturally PINK evening sky' Don't know about the States but here in the UK "Red Sky at Night, shepherds delight, Red sky at morning shepherd's warning" is far from folklore. It is a real phenomenon but rarely is the sky totally pink? Usually the reflected setting or rising sun reflects from the highlights of the clouds. Nothing to do with the screengrab just that it shows the MSTS rendering up? I'd love to have a play with the relevant .aces but don't know where they are or what they're called?

In the states, substitute "shepard" with "sailor" .
I hear you. When you fly in flightsim, you really see the difference in the capabilities of that game engine vs. this old one. The skies are pretty much spot on realistic, not just in coloring, but in the way dusk and dawn are rendered. The whole sky isn't one color.
