    Another Thank You Thread

I know it's been said before, but I want to say it again. Thank you ORTS Team! The latest version plays a short horn blast perfectly! I've been waiting for this for a long time and I can retire MSTS to the dustbin except for route building and activity creation. I know many post problems on here and the occasional thank you but I felt another round of applause and thank you was necessary. Keep up the great work!

      The latest experimental is great!!!

If you haven't tried them, download the latest today!

Much better than the developmental release.

I've been following the progress with the latest experimental releases and the features and fixes added in the last months are impressive! Just to name a few: distant mountains, fully functioning cabviews, smoke, sounds and the new "shake" option provide a great immersive experience. Just one request: is it possible to parse initial starting state in activities, so the timing is correct if you play an activity where the player is already running? Thanks and keep it up!

I echo the compliments about the latest experimental releases, as each bug is cleared in turn!

I wonder whether the Readme.txt that is included with each experimental release should include references to two other documents: the one about coupling, and the description of signalling ("Signalling - an introduction to signalling rules in OR") ?

For many who are downloading the experimental release for the first time, these documents are really important to show the advances in the software since the 0.8 release.

I downloaded the experimental release and loved the new exhaust effects and short horn blasts. But one thing that stopped working was the ability to switch tracks after I cleared them. In the F8 screen, instead of the lines being green they were red. Was that supposed to happen?

Stop the train and press Ctrl-M, this puts you in manual mode and you can throw switches all day long. When you're done switching, stop and press Ctrl-M again to go back to automatic mode. This "restores" the path and switches for the path are lined for you. Repeat this each time you stop to switch cars. If you forget to go back to automatic mode and come up on a trailing point switch, it might be lined for the other route since you're not on the path (you are, but in manual mode so OR has you off path) and when you run through the switch you'll go into emergency.

At least that's been my experience.

Who needs commercial dross, when OR is available.

Just installed the latest X version and was amazed at the quality of the depiction of Distant Mountains.

I also just discovered the increase\decrease fog option, which is excellent.

Well done to the dev team and thank you.

But be aware that if playing in "Explore" mode, Ctrl+M is not enabled. You are restricted to the path you initially choose to run.
