    Bulkhead Flatcar Set

I'm having a problem in getting these to work properly. After downloading, I'm guessing that you need to create an individual file, as one was not included in the download. Is that correct? If so, what is the name of the file? I didn't see where this was mentioned in the "read me". Any assistance is appreciated.

    Hi Curt,
Like all MSTS/ORTS vehicles, you won't see them in the sim until you've created a consist containing them. Also, you will need to configure OR to use the .dds files (Options > Experimental screen).

    Cheers,
    Ged

Of course, I had already created a consist. I've downloaded plenty of OR in the past, but had never had to "configure OR to use .dds files". I went in and checked the "Load DDS textures in preference to ACE" box, as that was the only thing that I saw in the "Experimental" tab, relative to that (hope I was correct there!). But now, the only thing that shows in OR is the engines, and not the bulkhead flats.

Curt, see if they open in Goku's consist editor. They show okay for me.
By the way ... WOW!! nice work from Peter O'Neill, Tyler Bundy, Rick Berg and Neil Keenan --- thanks you-all.
( Peter is just among our best and most prolific reskinners, not to mention Tyler...also --- nice work fellas!)

Made a consist. They all show in OR ( using Peter Newells [ctn_steamer] test track), right out of the box.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. In my original post, I had asked if, after downloading, did you create a file to put the unzipped contents in? If so, what did you name it?

Do you mean a folder? If so, name it anything, it doesn't matter.

Erick has the answer... you can name it anything you like.
My normal practice is to open the zip (Open command, not Extract I'm using WinRAR utility) to see what's inside, and if there is no folder, just a bunch of files, which is the case with this set...I then extract using the name of the zip, in this case --- bulkhead_flatcar_set

Actually, once I changed the folder name, as R. Steele suggested, it worked fine! I don't understand it, but the cars are awesome. Thanks to all who helped.

While you can name the folder anything you want, it makes sense to name it what other people are likely to name it (the folder name of the zip file, generally) because when activity makers include it, that is the name the activity will be looking for.

                      Hi all,
I just downloaded these and I find that I am missing the required sound files. What is the sound file referenced by this set?

Yeah, somewhere along the line, someone mucked up the Sound line, well that may be unfair, those referenced sound files could exist ( private use?) or be no longer available for all I know. You could just sub in the default msts genfreightwag sms files ( global SOUND folder ) or use some of the excellent new ones, Tiger Trains has a fine freight sound set..."TT_Freight_Sound" - free download for members.
