    An Activity Generator Question

I understand that a situation related to the Activity Generator program is best dealt with on their forum but I can't seem to get registered over there. Is anybody here willing to give it a go?

Me too and I gave up with register at their forum. It's very hard to get hold of Steve Davis because he is on the road all the time. Wish there is another moderator for that forum but only Steve who look after this forum.

Yes that is true and unfortunate because AG seems to be a very good program and so helpful for those of us afflicted with FOACS ie Fear of Activity Creation Syndrome. My issue with AG is one I believe of my own making but cant figure out how. I have the program installed on my laptop along with the latest version of Open Rails. Everything works as it should. I have installed the AG program templates on several routes and the issue is common to all of them namely the activities I create work perfectly but no loose consists are to be seen anywhere on any created activity or route. I have checked the loose consist editor on Conbuilder and the consists appear there but not in the simulation. I have tried reloading the templates and experimenting with various settings on the AG program but nothing works. Any suggestions?

Post an ACT file that does not show the Loose Consists

LOTS!!!! Of problems with the file. There is an END of File closing Brace at line 3967. But file continues to line 4449 and all of the loose consists are after that closing brace.

                Line 3968 is:
                ainCfg ( ""
So part of the file is missing. Probably should be this before line 3968:
                ActivityObject (
                ObjectType ( WagonsList )
                Train_Config (
And line 3968 should read as this:
                TrainCfg ( ""
                not:
                ainCfg ( ""

Could be more missing between lines 3966 and 3967.

Actually the closing braces at 3966 and 3967 belong at the very end of the file.

BTW David, The next time you need to upload an MSTS/ORTS file, DO NOT convert it to a TXT file. Most of us have these files associated with a Unicode editor that displays line numbers. I had to save the file then edit the extension it to an ACT file in order to open it with an editor that displayed line numbers and has tools to match braces.

GOOD GRIEF! A lot of questions come to mind. First of all how did the file get that way? Since I never open these activity files I either did it somehow with the AG program or the program created the error. My next question would be if the activity files with these errors are corrected will I be able to actually see loose consists? What editor do u use to display the line numbers in the activity files? Thank you for the help but I am frankly still scratching my head over this issue...

I've created many template files and have not seen this happen. I took a look at the original template files and didn't see anything that looked out of place. Taking a look at what Charles found, I took a look at the file that was originally attached. See a few issues. A little background on AG. In simple form, AG basically copies the original activity file with some changes based on what selections you made. With that in mind, if the original file is correct, the new file should be correct as well. If you look at Line 3968 where ainCfg ( "" is, take a look at the consist number 32859. If you do a search, you will see shows up twice in the file. It seems as if something was copied twice. I suspect the template file might have been corrupted. I would start again with the files from the template package and try again.

Thanks for taking the time to help. I downloaded the template file and started over with the same result. Very frustrating. I use the AG program on other routes with no issues. Only on the Feather River...

One suggestion from my experience...Sometimes when I have chosen Maximum Fill I get errors, if you are choosing maximum fill, try lowering it and see what happens.
                            You asked:
What editor do u use to display the line numbers in the activity files?
Many people use Notepad++ or ConText
